Hey now, is this directed at LSU for playing 2 cupcakes at the end of the regular season? Technically one is Listed as a Power 5

Because we dominate our state so bad the other teams aren’t even worth playing.

I feel like having late open dates/cupcake weeks actually helps the conference in November. You get to heal up for a week before the crucial final week or 2 of the season while other conferences have their members crushing each other.

But, the real reason we have these games in November is because television wants some conference games in September. Without those September conference games, there would be some weeks early in the season where the pickings are really slim for the TV folks.

I know in the GHSA, all non-region games are played before region games.
Is this where the idea stems from?

I agree. This week has become an annual infomercial for every talking head who claims the SEC is overrated, only plays 8 conference games, etc. It's the heart of playoff discussion season and the SEC looks weak. At least stagger this cupcake week into multiple weeks instead of almost everyone playing a shite game before rivalry week.

GT is a cupcake, but they are also P5, so OP is still logistically sound with keeping GT as game 12 and getting the Samfords and Kent State's out of the way in the first four weeks.

Has anybody checked to see how this impacts their schedule format (as to playing who when...etc.)?
I'm talking about the "cupcake game" teams.

They'll do what they're told or they die.

It would be hard for TAMU to play an SEC schedule if they could only play the first four weeks of the season

It is horrendous to the sport and your brand to discontinue major rivalries. It should never happen, Arkansas and OU/Nebraska should play 4 out of every 10, Tamu and TU should play every year.
Rivalries, full stadiums, states full attention, all of it is a good thing.

Vandy would have to play 8 games in four weeks if that were the case.
