Last year we had this guy that no one said could play too. Ahmad Black. He's 5'9 and 185lbs and started all season at SS; not only did he do awesome, he even had 7 picks.

It doesn't mean that Phelon is not a good player. It just means that the coaches feel that we have better talent.
What it means to Bama's staff is "We are weak in the secondary and we'll gladly clear up space on the roster to have this guy that LSU couldn't get on the field."
Not a bad thing. At least he can see the field somewhere.
