i doubt it. 350 would be freakish at 175, 400 is hard to do at 220 much less 175.

This is about Mass*Velocity.
It doesn't matter how much this kid benches.
When he brings he 4.4 175 pounds against
Brandon Bolden's 4.5 and 220, It's going to be game over.

They got talent. It is the only way Les Miles has been successful.

LSU's football program will struggle for the next few years.

And you're fricking ignorant if you're judging this guy by his measurables. I'm sure you have never seen him play or heard who he was. You just look at his weight and think LSU must not be talented if he is probably starting as SS. I think that is a compliment to Brooks more than it is an insult to LSU's talent level.
And btw the Bob Sanders comparison is not a very good one. Sanders is built like a bulldozer and is much over 200 lbs.

He's 175 lbs and starting at SS in the SEC. Hell, I'm sure the Washington RB will put this guy on his arse at least once.

it is rumored through the rant that brooks is the pound for pound strongest on the team
Posted on 8/2/09 at 3:20 pm to inelishaitrust
i seriously doubt brooks is going to play a traditional strong safety role in LSU's defense. i mean just think about it for a second. there's one starting safety who is built like a linebacker and one who resembles a corner. i like the move of putting brooks at safety. i've been anxious for LSU to have a reggie nelson style athlete at safety for years now, which is what brooks could be

And the wide receiver starting opposite of Julio Jones is 5'9" 170.
I'm sure people said, "that kid is too small to compete in the SEC"

Strength isn't going to be enough in this case.
Tackling a rb isn't about strength. Holding on to someone for dear life (which is what he'll be doing most of the time) is, though.

You are acting like we are putting two lightweight safeties out there. Most teams play one lighter guy, one heavier guy, correct?
Well...Chad Jones is 220, at least, and he is the other starting safety. Don't let their "positions" through you off....these guys will be interchangeable.

brooks is considered the best player for the position, so he will play
having Chad "Dreadlocks of Doom" Jones roaming the secondary at 225# doesnt hurt either

I thought that Bama had talent. Especially on the defensive side of the ball, yet they couldn't wait to take Phelon Jones who couldn't get on the field at LSU.
Willing to take in a transfer and sacrifice one of their scholarship players to make room for him.
Now, that is some talent base for you.

Yes, Ole Miss beat us up pretty good last year.

Marquise Maze will be on the field more than Mike McCoy from what I've seen.
McCoy has underperformed imo.
