We have beat every team we have played by double digits besides Tennessee. How do you figure we have struggled with decent defenses?

Our strength of schedule has been tougher than yours.

struggles with decent defenses

We scored more against Arky and Lsu and Miss St. than yall did.

The fact that we consistently underperform, regardless of the talent on the field, leads me to believe, we are still getting better

It leads me to believe that yall are what yall are at this point.

quote:

We took care of turnovers, and now our red zone production is improving

I agree with that part.

quote:

We continue to lay eggs, and we still manage to win in double digits (except for that 4 turnover, missing, missing assignments, poor execution, 3 point victory).

As do we. We've only given up 64 points in SEC play compared to yalls 96. And outside of Tenn and Lsu, we've won in double digits everytime, even just kicking fg's when our offense bogged in the redzone.

quote:

Florida will repeat, this team just refuses to lose. They are a well oiled machine, that hasn't reach their capacity

I think Bama will take it this year. They were so close last year against yall and are hungry for it. We have been playing better defense and our running game and overall offense is better. We're playing better and have gotten over the midseason lull. Gonna be a helluva game. I happen to think Bama takes it this yr.

#1 scoring defense

10.5 per game vs 10.9 per game for us. And that is because two kick returns are counted against defensive stats. When the defense has been on the field, we've given up less.

But to be fair we also scored less on their defense than we did Bama.

I can go further into intangibles too:

fumbles lost

Florida 9
Bama 5

Completion % against our defenses

Florida 50.91%
Bama 47.48%

Rushing offense

Florida 230 yds per game
Bama 219 yds per game

which is a wash at

Rushing defense

florida 94 yds per game
Bama 72 yds per game

We will see. I think Florida's focus has been on one thing, to repeat as champions. This game is almost a wash statistically, and in games of this magnitude I will take the team with a championship QB. Tebow, Spikes and others know what it takes to get it done in the end.

Definately a legit way to look at it. The stats are so close to each other it's uncanny. It should be an epic game.

Another way to look at it is this. Bama was ohhh so close and will settle for nothing less. While Florida has felt the pressure to repeat wire to wire. It could be so overwhelming by the time this game gets here, they could be so wound that they get mistake prone and to a defense like ours, that could be the nail in the coffin. I like this one better. lol

They also didn't have a bye before those games either.

Tn and Miss St had a bye before us and basically yall did with Tulane. No team has had to play SEC opponents coming off of byes than Bama has the last couple of yrs.

Can we not say that also, i.e. struggles with Tennessee? We played 5 SEC teams in a row before an off week.

ETA: I may have misunderstood your post so forgive me if this is not what you are talking about.

I was saying FL and Bama had bye weeks before playing LSU and one team did statistically MUCH better... Fl completly shut down our offense that night.

true.. and one team scored more points against what was touted as a much improved defense as the season has gone on.

Sorry I misunderstood you. It goes both ways though, we scored more on you than they did. I don't want to get into all of this though because it really makes no difference. We can sit here and go back and forth and compare what each team did in a game but it will have no effect on the SECCG. It is going to be a fight and I hope Bama can pull it off. Florida is a great team no doubt, but I feel we do have a chance.

Funny how you leave the biggest intangible of all- TIM TEBOW vs McElroy

Yes, the stats, and SOS are pretty much even. But, our guys are very in sync, and close, they know how to win it all, and they are determined. There is someone who steps up to the plate, no matter what.

Funny. I didn't know they would be squaring off against each other.

Oh. Well shite. There goes Bama's chances, seeing as our guys aren't.

You realize both teams are undefeated at this point, and it's because both teams have had someone step up to the plate, right?

Hmm lets see.

Bama struggled with Ole Miss, red zone issues big time.

More redzone issues with USCe

More redzone issues with UT.

Bama didn't do all that great vs LSU either. LSU just blew that short screen to JJ. Looked like a big time blown coverage. If Pat Peterson was in the game playing press coverage on JJ than that play doesn't happen.

Fact is, Bama has had a hard time vs the better defenses. They haven't faced a defense as good as Florida's though.

Don't think Florida will shut them out but i don't think they will score 20+ either.

I do like Florida's chances because i think Urban is the better coach. Just like he was last year. Plus he has Tebow, that is better than McElroy.
