Leave us out of it...We took there #3 ranked Secondary down last year and had 3 rushing TD's to boot

point taken. I guess a good DL is more important than a good secondary against Arky. Ours wasnt that great last year, but our DL made them look good.

Did anyone find it odd to see Ellis up in the booth? I guess thats where he normally is, but how many DC's are up there. I understand why, but you figure your DC would want to be on the field to motivate the defense.

Between Brad Lawing and Lorenzo Ward, I think they get plenty of motivation down on the field. Ward chest-bumped Akeem Auguste last night after he broke up a pass and knocked him down.

SC has a good defense. Not a great one. Their secondary is as good as any, but their run D isnt that spectacular. I think they will give UGA and Arky fits, but Bama and Florida shouldnt have a problem with them due to their strong running games and DL's.

Don't see how you could draw that conclusion from last year or last night. UGA and Arky put up way more points on us last year than Bama and Florida. And USM put up 404 yards, but only 67 was rushing.

Also, FWIW, USM put up 180 yards in the 4th quarter after the score was already 41-6. This was against out 3rd team and we played a base 4-3 defense with a soft zone and the linebackers 6-7 yards off the line.

Time will tell. Southern Miss looked pretty bad. But SC did what you are suppose to do to a bad team and that is kick their arse. The level of opponent increases greatly this week for them.

Dont get too excited holding southern to under 70 rushing yards. They dont run the ball. Thats like holding TT to under 70 yards. And I retract my statement regarding giving arky and UGA more fits. Against Arky atleast you need to get pressure on Mallet. Thats more important than your strong secondary. I was just spit balling there.

exactly. It was a near perfect game. If your OL looked a little better then you'd have a complete team, which is amazing this early in the season. Feel good SC. You looked better than anyone thought you would.

I had no idea you had such good recievers and both your QB's look great. And I dont have to say anything about lattimore.

They looked really good most of the game. SC fans have a lot to be excited about, IMHO! I only hope our Tigers can look even nearly that impressive....

The "big boys" in the East might have some company this season.

I'm hoping South Carolina does well this year, but I'll wait before making a bold prediction. I remember the same type of hype following Carolina beating down NC State in a season opener a few years ago. I hope Carolina keeps it rolling though.

I feel like jumping on their bandwagon early in the year is like investing in real estate right now

we'll see though if USC, UGA, and Florida are all good the east will be better than I thought

That Sanders kid has serious wheels. Kid's got Holliday/Demps/Rainey like speed on the field.

I am cautiously optimistic. This does appear -- so far -- to be a much better team than the one that beat NC State. We actually have an offense and two competent QB's. In that NC State game two years ago, Tommy Beecher started, threw 4 picks and got his bell rung -- after which he was so messed up in the head that he refused to go back into a game all season. Russell Wilson got knocked out of the game in the second quarter. N.C. State's backup QB was so back he couldn't have even walked on at Mississippi State that year. We just wore out their defense and put up a bunch of cheap points in the 4th quarter.

I like out chances against UGA. That game is going to be a slobber knocker.

I agree with you. You going to be there?
