My Brother has a $2 million house on Lake Burton and Raburn county is just as bad.The roads and services suck up there.

There's still some value to be found on Oconee. I like the Granite Shoals area (Greene County ) due to seclusion & proximity to Athens .

We'll probably still look at Oconee and Hartwell, then decide. It's nice to have choices. I have about convinced her to consider something like Big canoe. Something up high looking down on the water. We'll see. You know the saying..."If momma ain't happy, ai't nobody happy!"

Time to get off the computer and get settled in. Have a good one, rb!

Well, we won't be buyig a $2 million house. Lake Burton was one we had considered, though, so that is good to know.

Take it easy, man!

It's a lot more fun to rent someone else's tax burden.

That's the lower end up there these days on the water...ridiculous.

And I wasn't suggesting moving up there just pointing out the services were just as bad as the other county
that was discussed.

Until, of course, they actually had to play Saban and Alabama and learned quick.
It came down to overtime in the championship game

They didn't learn that quick

What about Lake Allatoona? That's where Scott Steiner lives.

Oh you mean like every other SEC team (not named Alabama) after they have a decent season?

Yeah I get you. That shite's stupid isn't it?

They wish to be the Alabama's LSU's Florida's. They aren't even the Auburn's or Tennessaws!

They've got 37 more years to talk about this year and how it "A L M O S T was.

Allatoona is smaller and narrower, but it has more hills and mountains, it's also northwest of Atlanta. Hartwell probably has your best bang for the buck with the quality of the lake.

Yes. In fact, at $189,000 it is the cheapest sloped lot we have seen. It isn't a steep slope and you can definitely walk on it easily, but there is a definite slope. Most level lots with the view we saw go for $300,00. It is a small lake though, so a small premium.

I understood your point. But we had considered looking there. Your comment only made me stop and take that into consideration.

We'll look at Alatoona. I am nto familiar with Scott Steiner, though. Alatoona is close to my son and grandsons, so we will have to give it a cursory look, but I suspect it will be too expensive.

Just from what I have seen online Hartwell does seem to have some reasonably priced lots. It's hard to tell from pictures, though, because after you get there, you realize how steep a lot is, or something. We were told a steep lot can add $100,000 to the price of a house in order to get the foundation right. That would put it out of reach for us. I am thinking we end up in some hills overlooking a big lake looking down on the lake, but not right on the water.

FYI,Lake Chatuge is about 30 mins away from Burton and
ALOT less expensive withmany more things to do and places to go.Its a very hot area for retirees.
