Convenient open dates for Bama
not to rag on the team I cheer for... but here's LSU's last 7 weeks of the season... @ Ole Miss, Furman, Bye, @ Alabama, Bye, aTm, Arkansas
LSU plays 9 games before that 1st bye week... and yes I know that's nothing compared to 12 in a row like aTm
but you could consider LSU's open dates convenient as well I suppose

Texas A&M's schedule is actually more pathetic than ours. Tennessee isn't a stupid eastern opponent, it's just recently they've been down and we're taking advantage. LSU will be tough but they won't be the juggernaut that they were in 2011 and no way they beat Florida AND Georgia. They can beat one but not both with the talent they have. I seriously think whoever wins the game on September 14 will win the SEC west and probably the SEC

Why would anyone want to have two bye weeks in 3 weeks? Much better if they are spread out for injuries and things of that sort.

You guys know we changed conferences right? What powerhouses do you think we could have scheduled in the last year? Before joining the sec we were scheduling arkansas. As stated we have some more good match ups coming soon.

You're right.
I'd rather have none, all season.

We have had to explain this so many times.
We had to junk the old schedule when we switched confrences. we had a top SEC school scheduled OOC in Arky. They are now in conference.
How many great OOC games do you want us to schedule in 1 year?
in case you didnt know these things are scheduled way way ahead of time.
We have USC and Oregon scheduled for future years.

the person I quoted said it was convenient for Bama b/c their byes are before LSU and aTm... I was just pointing out that LSU's byes are sandwiched around Bama... which is also just before LSU's match-up w/ aTm
but yes it would be better if the byes were spaced apart... hence why I pointed out LSU has 9 games in a row

Shhhh ... for several ill-informed posters on this site, a mob-mentality outrage over a manufactured slight is much more fun.

It is fair. If LSU weren't an also-ran program who's safe from having its losses highly scrutinized, then it wouldn't be. But because Bama and TAMU are the conference's flagship programs, they must be catered to. Think about it--would you put your prize thoroughbred in the same stall as your quarterhorses? No, you give them preferential treatment to secure your winnings. Same idea here. Anyway, once you realize it's good for the lesser programs to have Bama/TAMU play easier schedules, you want be upset.

Auburn was bad last year, but LA Tech is no SEC team.
You're right, they weren't. They were much better than Auburn or Arkansas, certainly Kentucky (though we didn't play them) and probably MSU and UT (another we didn't play).
I'm not a big fan of A&M's scheduling, but I'm not sure it could be helped. We lost Arkansas as the big OOC opponent, no Big 12 team will play us, and scheduling some B1G/Pac12 team takes years. That said, A&M probably should have had another tough OOC opponent on the schedule before the SEC move and all this would be moot. Personally I'd like to see a 3 game rotation with the East for 9 conference games total, if only to shut up LSU fans.

La. Tech CRUSHED several teams much better than Auburn last year.
People continue to ignore the fact that they are projected to have FIVE NFL draft picks next month. That is unheard of for a mid-major school not named TCU or Boise.

And I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but the main reason why A&M has such crappy OOC opponents is that we were forced to scramble for opponents after the SEC switch and Texas refusing to play us. From 2015 to 2019 we are scheduled to played Oregon x2 and USC x2. It's not like we didnt try.

Klarvin is correct. Apparently none of you know how hard it is to put together a OOC schedule quickly. Especially when there are some schools in your own state refuse to play you because you left their crummy conference. These games are scheduled years in advance.
Don't fret, it will be tougher soon.

SOS will hurt both teams if it comes down to it this year, but next year would be a different story
