6 team playoff:

Top 2 teams get a bye
Winners of 1st round get home field advantage in round 2 (to even out the bye)
Championship game is neutral field

5 conference champions + 1 at-large

I just don't like an unbalanced playoff

Preferably I would like the five G5 champs
And then discontinue the G5 ccgs but in its place let the top 2 ranked meet on champ weekend for the 8 spot. Then 2 at large to fill 6&7 spots

If we look at this year, next weekend would be

Bama vs WMU in Tuscaloosa (Sat 3:30)
Clemson va Michigan in Clemson (Frid night 6pm)
Washington vs tOSU in Seattle (Fri night 9pm)
PSU vs OU In Happy Valley (Sat 7pm)

Plus you have Army-Navy in Sat at Noon

That's a great weekend

Championship Games are an opportunity to get a resume-boosting win at this point, and I think that's good enough for now. If the playoff were to get expanded to eight teams I'd be fine with the five P5 champions getting a spot automatically. But right now, with only four spots available, it doesn't make sense when there is such a disparity in conferences and divisions.

That's absurd and completely defeats the point of having a conference champion

What? Like the B10 champ?
