We trotted our closer out there in the 5th inning. I didn't see what happened but apparently we were unable to throw strikes. Used 5 pitchers walking 5 and giving up 6 hits. Oh well. Shite happens!

Mid week games doesn't mean anything but that's going to be the problem for State. I wasn't impressed with the pitching this past weekend or yesterday.

Sure they do. When it comes time for Regionals, everything is taken into consideration. Do you want to be a 3 seed shipped out West somewhere?

I argued this all last year and I turned out to be right. Last year, State dropped a few midweek games but continued to win weekend series. State's rank and rpi went up every week because of weekend series wins and nothing to do with mid week games

Mid-week games count in the RPI the same as weekend games. But, you have to use those games to get guys experience, and if it means taking a loss every now and then, so be it. If you do well in SEC play, RPI will just about take care of itself.

Mid week games means more if you are on the bubble. I say win ball games and don't worry about rpi.

No team in the SEC has to worry bout its rpi. Check out the Top 20 baseball teams, the top 6 in particular. Throw in the SEC league tourney. Enough said.

It's early in the season. Managers still trying to find who is a player/pitcher, especially on Tuesday nights.

Exactly, and whomever makes up the rpi knows that. You tell your players that all games matter and you want to win them all but it doesn't hurt you if you lose a few.

We are getting way to serious and too much sports talk for the rant. Ole Miss is shite. LSU hired a DL line. The rant is back.

You are always on a bubble in college baseball. You can be on the bubble for a national seed or a regional host or a 2 vs a 3 not at your place. You can make up a lot of ground toward the end of the season (like we did last year and getting a national seed). Those runs are rare though in the SEC because the late season competition is so good. Do yourself a favor and not lose midweek games that you should win. We lost midweek games last year to Oral Roberts and Eastern Kentucky in March that held us back until the very end.

#5 national seed is being held back? How did State get a #5 national seed? Winning 9 out of 10 conference series. If State won every mid week game and lost a few conference series, they wouldn't have got a national seed.

LSU fans are great at pointing out other teams faulting at the worse possible times

Didn't LSU do the same thing? Get a good lead and blew it?

That is some flawed logic. Because weekend conference series mean more than midweek games then midweek games don't mean anything?

Yep up 6-1 lost 8-11 gave up 10 in 2 innings but apparently we like to point it out and mock others.
