Maybe they will actually play football games instead of sitting out all the time. Just a thought.

I agree. But that’s the thing you’re just relying on guys that have a pulse instead of playmakers.

That Troy WR had 999 yards last year - so basically a 1000 yard receiver. Sounds like a playmaker to me

Typical tu meltdown. Lon…but hey SEC…you’re seeing what Texas does best…liberal mouthy trash talkers…with a mega self entitled ego problem. Dozens are already shite taking to the SEC and they haven’t played a game. They have been playing in the minor leagues…ruined them…now coming into tell everyone how the SEC is going to be.

Kid, it’s just another bowl game, unless you actually advance to the championship
And yet it'd be equivalent to the single biggest game a&m has played in your lifetime

You got your arse kicked, and yet you’re claiming a moral victory running around telling everyone you contented for a championship, you did not contend for a championship you got your butt kicked in the NY6 bowl game, that is it
arse kicked = inches away from winning on the last play? No wonder you couldn't get into Texas, little guy
quote:

You played a terribly weak schedule
Literally higher than all but 2 SEC teams, one of which we beat on the road by 2 scores (now THAT'S an arse-kicking)...

But you're an aggie so I don't doubt simple numbers come extremely hard to you.

You participated in an NY6 game and got your butt kicked, and you’re claiming that as a victory. This is why everyone makes fun of you.
You finished 7-6 with your best win being against 6-7 Auburn and you're trying to talk trash to the school you weren't smart enough to attend. All while playing army dress up

No doubt that is why everybody makes fun of you

Sounds a lot like A&M, if we're all being honest.

Agreed! Fantastic post by OP. Fans.....hyping up there own internal news and excitement about players.

What a really low IQ post.

Duh!

We are upgrading talent with experience versus wishful thinking that a theortical, spoiled 5-star will be more productive in his freshman year.

The key to success in todays NIL is the portal. Not stacked classes of unproven 5 stars with little school allegiance. This model will be proven soon until they add the needed restrictions against unlimited portal transfers.

So the new strategy is to stack transfer classes full of out of state 2-3*'s from schools like Troy and Old Dominion with zero ties to aggy? Make it make sense Aggy!!!!

The answer is a balance. Like all things in life. Recruiting and coaching both matter

True, but wont win many games in the SEC with a bunch of 2-3 stars from Old Dominion, dont care how well coached they are.

Most portal players aren't huge contributors in their first season.

I know many Aggies think the portal is a magic elixir because you haven't used it much but it's very overrated if you're getting the player for one year and a at best, a mixed bag if you're getting him for two years.

And then there's the team chemistry dynamic, a portal player can be just as much of a mercenary as a "spoiled, freshman 5 star."

Our best WR last year came from a small school. Walker was better than Evan Stewart and didn’t sit out games like a selfish arse. Some work out, and some do not. Our Heisman winning QB was a three star recruit.

The Purdue end we pulled out of the portal was ranked so low that Fisher didn’t give him a sniff. Denver Harris has the talent but not the will … Every kid is a different situation

Are you really saying you would rather have a bunch of 2-3 stars from smaller schools versus 4-5 stars? Theres always exceptions, but 4-5 stars are more likely to work out.

No, I’m saying that character matters. I’d rather have a few lesser ranked players that play hard than divas who quit on their teams such as Stewart or are locker room cancers. Balance.

You still need talent to win.

Not so sure in the NIL world things won't change a bit, will you compete for an NC every year without a roster full of 4 and 5* probably not. Can you catch lightning in a bottle every few years with a bunch of committed lower rated recruits that stay together for 3 or 4 years? Maybe. It will be interesting to watch the dynamic over the next 5 to 10 years. Washington's talent ranking going into this year was outside the top 25, they have zero 5*s, and more 3* than 4's. On paper there is zero chance they'd be playing for an NC but here they are. If the FBS is going to look more like the pro's given the paying of players then the Yankees are a good example of a team of 5*s, they have one WC since 2000. We went that route a few years, we got a complacent coach, divas smoking blunts in the locker room and doing donuts in our parking garage, I'm ready to try the alternative. What do we have to lose , 1939.

Elko has been on the job for thirty days. I'm just thrilled we didn't hire an over the hill has-been using us for a paycheck.

I'm also thrilled we aren't overpaying the new staff. If Elko doesn't work out it will be much easier to shift in a few years as a result.
