Hippies are still there, but these days they tend to be among the "unhoused" instead of shitty apartments or run down houses in East Austin. You're right it's hard to find someone actually born in Austin these days...much less a multi-generational Austinite.

Austin is a bit different than most in that you could go there 20 times for a game and never go to the same place twice.
