This is what's wrong with auburn. Tough season? Run his arse off. Saban went 7-6 his first year at Bama, then 12-2, then a national title, then a tough 10-3 that included a 24-0 comeback by auburn. He was 2-2 vs auburn with one national title and one sec title in 4 years.
If an auburn coach had those 4 seasons, there would have been talk of firing him after that 10-3 year. Auburn isn't and has never been a perennial national title contender. U keep changing coaches and form no cohesion. Auburn will have great teams but they aren't ever gonna be great every year.

This is apples to oranges. Gus is 1-4 in bowl games, 6-13 vs rivals, and his game management and play calling have been questionable to say the least. You typically allow a coach 4 years to establish a foundation to build on. This is year 6 and we seem to be spiraling down. The offense has been on life support since Nick Marshall left, and the defense is starting fracture after giving up 30 points to Tennessee and 52 to Alabama. There is no foundation.

Knowing auburn they will go 13-1 next year and give gus another extension.

When things look bleak for Auburn is when they’re at their best. They’ll win 10 games next year for sure now.

Saban will hire him to help Butch Jones wash cars.

Auburn doesn’t have the players to win 8, much less 11.
3*s will not beat LSU,A$M, Bama or UGA. And if he loses the team early it will get brutal.

This is the line of thinking out of AU that I never understood. Tuberville was a good coach, beat Bama 6 years in a row (admittedly during the worst down years for the Tide) but then Saban comes in, Bama wins against Tuberville and panic sets in on the plains. Result is jet gate.
The big bosses at AU go after a former OC under Tuberville, as if the head coach had no part in those good Auburn teams. That falls through but the damage is done, so the bosses go after a former DC under Tuberville. And the Chiz wins the first NC in 50 years. There’s a drop off for a couple of years, so they fire him and go after his former OC, once more as if the head coach had no part in the success.
The Gus bus wins the SEC and reaches the NC game, beats 2 number one teams in the same year, reaches SEC championship again, but after big raise and a down year, it’s time to fire another coach. From the outside, looks like insanity to me.

From the outside, it would look like insanity. But if you break it down, it’s much more complex. Tuberville quit on the team and essentially ceased to recruit effectively. It was time for him to go after ten years. Chizik went 3-9 and failed to win an SEC game in 2012. That will always get you fired in this league. And Malzahn’s entire body of work is less than stellar - 6-13 against rivals, 1-4 in bowls, going from preseason top 10 to unranked three times now. This offense hasn’t been working at all since Nick Marshall left. It’s time for a change after six seasons.

Tuberville did quit after the admin quit on him...it was time for them to part ways. Maybe it is Time for Gus to go, but if the bosses can’t hit a Mal Moore type home run (Stoops is the spoken name) then who do you hire? If you recycle another former coordinator...insanity.
No skin in the matter, but there will be entertaining drama.

Malzahn close to accepting changes to remain at Auburn (247Sports-Auburn)

Its weird man.
He's pretty darn hireable at the moment. I would've taken a firing, received a fatter buyout, and been a TV analyst until a proper P5 opportunity opened.

Well it looks as if GusBus is spending millions to get fired next year after another stellar loss.
LSU? UGA ? Bama?
My money is on LSU.

Not always. At least not immediately.
I think Bielema went winless one year in the SEC and returned. Chad Morris repeated the same feat this year, and will return.

They were both in year 1, and at Arkansas, which let’s be honest is not a football juggernaut. Chizik was in his fourth year.

Literally all of this is incorrect. You merged two separate events in your head into one event. Jet Gate was in 2003. Tubs was fired in 2008 after going 5-7. More so Tubs seemed to want to get fired. He quit recruiting the year before and Saban slaughter him on the trail.
Why should a Big 6 school in the SEC accept a 5-7 season?

Opposing coaches would pick off every 4 and 5 star commitment with ease.
Keeping him the way this is being projected looks so bad it isn’t funny. If I am Bryant I wouldn’t touch this dumpster fire with 10’ pole.
