O-line was pretty great earlier in the year, my theory is at least two of them are playing with injuries that arent bad enough to keep them off the field, yet still affects their play. Hopefully the bye week gives them time to heal up.

108 yards in penalties isn't something necessarily to do with injuries. Cam Williams is also false starting far too much. And our run game was good in this game versus Vandy, but our team brought back quite a few explosive plays by the backs. Not sure what the problem is because they have too many starts minus Cam Williams to be making these mistakes.

Just wondering…. Do you think Oline looking pretty great earlier in the season had anything at all to do with competition and the 3 star athletes across on the defensive lines they faced?

Go ahead and look at pick 4 and 20

Yeah, the penalties were the real killer. Cam (and others) may be jumping because they know they're slowed by injury? Hopefully Flood clears that shite up with two weeks to work on it.

Also hope they can teach Jerrick Gibson pass pro over the bye, having him on the sidelines isn't helping our run game.

My brother is a tu fan who lives in Austin and he called Sunday to tell me about his concern over Ewers regression. Honest question, what has changed, what has happened to him?
Keep winning and we will try to do the same for a great last game.

All of the backs and Helm need to do better at pass protection. Ewers has his issues, but pass protection is the bigger problem we've had the last 3 games.

Sounds like you think level of competition had nothing to do with Oline looking great prior to UGA. Got it.

Thanks for clarifying.

Playing 2 first round defensive tackles on Michigan is not tough competition? Was Dallas Turner tough competition last year in Tuscaloosa?

The issue is poor communication, they can figure that out their over the bye week.

He has a confidence issue and I suspect his injury is nagging him. He has never been good at passes of 20 yards or more but he has regressed in areas where he previously excelled.
Someone will be along shortly saying I'm wrong and he throws a great deep ball even though I posted stats that prove otherwise

You don’t seem to understand how the lack of QB threat causes a defense to start bearing down and closing in on you. You can point to many things and call it the real problem - but defenses are boxing in Texas, causing these peripherals that you point to.

This nonsense has to stop. Texas must stretch out the field. Ewers can NOT keep a defense honest. They are smelling blood, and no OL can overcome a defense that’s just selling out due lack of QB respect.

A QB change would be a huge surprise. Not likely.

More likely scenario would be switching to Manning if Ewers isn’t productive vs Florida.

Yea hopefully Texas can set its humility aside for once and try thinking of itself for a change.

I think you can win with either one but Manning is your future so you may as well give him playing time.
He will have a tough row to hoe vs that A&M defense but if he flounders your coach can always put it Ewers.
Coach Saban did this routinely with his quarterbacks.
If the Bama offense was producing, he wouldn't hesitate to put the backup and visa versa.
