an auburn fan talking about the ball bouncing differently? if it weren't for catching lightning in a bottle TWICE in 2 weeks, gus would really only have 1 notable season, 2017. heck, he might not have even made it 2017 as the auburn coach. personally, i knew he wasn't as bad as people were making him out to be a few weeks ago. however, i also feel like he sure as heck ain't worth what auburn is now paying him. i'm pretty sure auburn and a&m are not going to be all that happy with their roi over the next few years.

Sorry you’re poor and hired Ed O

You’re right, but he somewhat has a point. You guys wanted to fire him three times this season. I like Gus , but why make a commitment to a coach that you guys are ready to fire every other week?

Who in the frick were we going to hire in the current market? We would be sitting like lame duck Tennessee begging for anyone to interview.

What's the problem? We owe Jeff Long $4MM and the assistansts have a nice buyout coming too. We aren't poor. We tossed out close to $20MM to change course. Coffers run deep in Woo Pig Sooie land.

Gus probably isn't worth 7m in a vacuum, but is he worth 7m in a year where he wins 10/11 games
ok you just answered your own question. the answer is no

Dan Mullen gets 6.1m and there are a shite ton of teams looking for a coach? Yeah, he probably is.
other teams looking for a coach has nothing to do with the value of gus himself. auburn is clearly overpaying and overreacting. i think gus is a good coach. not $7mil though. no freakin way

sure. he's "good."

One bad game at Clemson
there was WAY more to it than that. if you look at his overall resume, he is not elite.

It's gonna be fun watching the Aubs spin this after losing to Washington, Georgia, LSU, Aggie, Bama, and maybe Arky next year.

Ed O is making what he deserves.
this is what's hilarious from these fools. they're defending paying gus and jimbo an outrageous, saban salary (without saban results) but also saying lsu is overpaying for paying literally half what they are. then o goes out and wins 9 games with a patchwork o line, new coordinator and pedestrian qb. geniuses

I see JJs fingerprints all over this.

Oh so they are going to run me off. I think I will shite in this sack and leave it at the presidents door on my way out.
49M for 7 years. Ha. That sack will be smelling bad within 2 years and we will see how they get out of that stinky situation.

5 years x 7M per = 35 M buy out.

Occh !!!

this is no way justifies overpaying for the current coach. moreover, i'm pretty sure there are plenty of really, really good coaches who would be interested in auburn, a top 10 revenue school in the best conference.

Can you show me the point in time when Auburn has been near the top 10 every year?

and yet we are what, 13th all time? the implication of your statement was not consistently in the top 10 but in the top 10 at some point during the season. now, using your own criteria can you answer that same question for me? we are back to the who made who debate. let me assure you AU made Gus not the other way around.

Couple that with the fact that there simply aren't any coaches that might be available that are objectively better than Gus's performance at Auburn thus far, and it's a pretty easy decision.

Not really, no.

You've just made him the third highest paid coach in football. Ahead of Meyer who has won 3 NCs and Swinney who is likely about to play in his third consecutive NC game.

Show me where in our history we have consistently finished in the top 10?
