Their football program is down rightnow, but their other programs are very good. They'll eventually turn it around.

Because it’s not even debatable that Missouri delivers no value whatsoever. At least it’s debatable with Arkansas.

I was responding to his quote about the conference's football competitiveness.
I don't know how old you are, but the idea that Arkansas is some "tag-along" addition to this conference is just wrong. Conference expansion is an idea started by Penn State and Arkansas in 1990 when both schools realized that their current financial situations were untenable.
You may not like it, but Arkansas was valuable enough to the SEC for them to add us first.

Why? Missouri has brought more to the SEC than any single other expansion school, A&M, USCe, Arky, etc...

Arkansas feels pure SEC to me.
The Ozarks are beautiful. Frankly, Little Rock is picturesque, and Hot Springs is awesome. Just like many parts of Kentucky, Tennessee, rural Georgia.
Their fan base is rabid. Calling the Hogs feels pure SEC to me. How in the world does that fit in with the Big 12? A feral pig as a mascot feels like it fits right in with the SEC. Wearing a hat shaped like a pig feels like SEC to me.
Arkansas was a confederate state. I don't know that that's necessary for being in the SEC, but it feels like it helps.
The biggest issue is that their best years in football came before SEC admittance, and SEC fans are simply not going to acknowledge anything that happened pre-SEC. But in basketball we'll see what Calipari is able to do. I hate that guy like I hated Barry Switzer, but if they'll open the NIL spigots for him he's going to bring talent on campus. One thing is for sure the Arkansas fans will support their teams. There's just a problem with the relatively small population. They have to be able to recruit in surrounding states - especially Texas - and they haven't been able to do so at a high enough level. I'm not sure how that changes.

Are you 14?
Providing a flagship university that has a winning tradition in all three major sports is the value of Arkansas athletics. The conference's geographic center is Memphis at this point. Arkansas is in the middle of the SEC.
Even football is valuable at the moment because it provides wins for the conference's upper-echelon.
