If we go to 16, what about having four 4-team pods and you rotate 2 teams from each of the other pods each year for a 9 game schedule or 2 from two pods and 1 from the remaining pod and rotate which pod you only get one from for an 8 game schedule. Both ways you play each team more often than what we have now. The only thing we'd lose would be the WGOCP, but even then they'd play more often than FL plays Bama or UGA plays LSU now.
1) LSU, Ole Miss, State, TAMU
2) Auburn, Bama, UGA, Tenn
3) FL, USCe, Virginia Tech, UNC
4) Ark, Mizzou, Vandy, UK

The logical expansion would be to add AAC Teams(UCF, Houston, USF, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, Cincy) which are in a weak conf but are in good recruiting states. Top picks being Tulsa(W)/USF(E) or UCF(E)/ Houston(W). Texas and Florida are such talented states that adding teams in those states would add to SEC notariety. These teams would most likely be more than willing to join and would expand our borders.

I am on tRant. You lost me here

But in all seriousness we need to add UNC, and VT. This round of expansion would add the rest of the old confederacy (Except Mizzou

i completely agree. or even NCst instead of UNC but the ACC will not let that happen
my proposal would look like this in the 4 pods
West
Mizzou
aTm
OM
MSU
Central
Bama
AU
Vandy
Arky
East
UGA
USC
UT
UK
South
LSU
UF
UCF(USF)
Houston(Tulsa)

you'd get rid of the AU/UGA game?

The pod system would be a very nice solution but I think the other conferences would put an embargo on the SEC getting any more teams

both the ACC and the PAC12 are pushing for 16. not sure about the BIGs.
thats why i say the ACC will be off-limits so that leaves Sun Belt and AAC as the best to grab from.
i can imagine an NCAA-like CFB Association with 4-6 mega-conferences with 16 teams each

no kidding, another ridiculous expansion idea post demonstrating cluelessness about the situation.
couldn't whoever runs this place just tack up a "post you expansion idea(no matter how dumb it is) here" thread?

North Carolina and Virginia Tech. The need to expand to the east is what we need.

It's not about direction really, it's about quality of university and state population. There is nothing left to the west of any quality or a state that has more people than tumbleweeds.
East just happens to be where the immediate states that make any sense are, Va and NC. Both have schools of enough quality to make sense and the ACC doesn't have the stability of the big 3, SEC, PAC and B1G. It's not hard to figure out, so why do people continue to post stupid expansion ideas like they've rediscovered the wheel?

It is even easier than that:
If the SEC adds North Carolina and Virginia, then
If the SEC adds North Carolina and Virginia, then

This is about population base. (i.e. Household Cable subscribers) and Academic Ranking. Oklahoma is home to 3.8 million people it ain't an option. U of O and OSU are ranked 101 and 142 respectively we already have the Mississippi schools, USCe and LSU above 100 we don't need any more.
Look to Virginia and North Carolina in the future.

I don't think this would ever happen. Not only do I think UF would be opposed to elevating these schools, but I think other SEC schools probably wouldn't be too happy about having to compete with UCF/USF for Florida recruits.

Why is it so hard to understand how and why expansion works? You expand to increase your footprint and gain markets and viewers. Adding two schools from the same state doesn't do that

anyone else downvote before reading a single word? I did, expansion is dumb.

I think they should get the Carolina Panthers and Miami Dolphins and put them in the east and put Missouri in the west
