I don't think the "Toe tapped" part was what most were questioning. I think it was the stepping out, then being the first to touch the ball first most were questioning.

Lots of players play hurt. Hell, some guys are out there with clubs for a hand the cast is so big. Every damn team in history has had a player on the field at less than 100%.
