I thought this was a thread on how many NC's Bama fans claim.

I don't have cancer (that I know of). And to be honest, I'm not working on a cure for cancer either. But yes, the point is, if as a "fan" you get obsessively depressed when "your" team loses, or, obsessively elated when "your" team wins, that's unhealthy. And to Bama fans (particularly those who didn't go to school there, and who maybe never even set foot on the campus), if you get in my face w/ bragging, I'm going to ask, 1. when did you graduate from the Univ. of Al.? if you actually did graduate from the U of Al, my 2d question will be, how many tackles did you get Mon. nite?

come on,Jeff. All fanbases do that and all fanbases have lots of fans who didn't go to that school,or any college--including LSU.

They handed us our hats.Let it go.

I'm already over it. They Won. We lost and got beat down. I'm still waking up in the morning and tonight I'll be sporting my PnG in the Coleman as my tigers down the Crimson Tide.

I still have my hat, and no one handed anything to me. I didn't play, didn't coach, didn't make a tackle. Nothing wrong w/ being a fan but there's a lot of folks (yes of course, including LSU) who for some reason enjoy feeling some false sense of superiority over others b/c a group of 20 yr olds accomplished something that they had nothing to do with. It's pathetic.

Anyone say in 1992, UF v 'Bama / Roy Kramer changed college football history ?

They started the first SECCG. If 'Bama loses SECCG probably doesn't last and other conferences don't change to conf. champ. games. Instead 'Bama barely beat our SECCG brothers, Florida, and went on to spank Miami's arse.

SECCG would have lasted even if Bama lost.

But back when it was started, most of the coaches worried that having to play that one extra game would keep a SEC team from winning the national title...

I don't think that is an issue...

Get real Pigg. I wasnt going to Harvard or Yale and I wasnt going to JP Tech either. Nothing wrong with either if your making an honest living, but I knew I was going to attend an SEC school in the South and get a common degree that wouldnt matter if it said UGa or MIT. I also knew that I wasnt concerned about making the deans list every semester either. I wanted to go to school and get a degree and have a good 4 or 5 years along the way. Something I did and I have to say '92 was a damn fun year. You cant sit there and say that having a good football team at your school doesnt contribute to some great college memories so dont act all high and mighty about how to choose your college. If you plan on being a rockit scientist maybe, but for the rest of us Joe Publics just stop it.

Exact reason I chose Bama. Oh, and the fact that my dad probably wouldn't have picked up the tab at any other school..... Thanks Dad!

Are you 12? The Bama football team was superior Monday night, but you definitely are not.

Not to flame anymore but when we get overly excited and have pride for our 20yr old kids?! what about this country and the 20 yr old men fighting over seas for our freedom. I have tremendous pride for my country. This is not saying it is as important as wars but we ride the back of young men everyday. Thanks to any of our soldiers. I never shot a charlie but I will fly my flag high. Having pride in something you love is not to be shamed upon, but having a attitude of a sissy is another story.

think Paul Bryant (CPB) was instrumental in making the Sugar Bowl rival the Rose Bowl by putting the SEC winner in it.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Bryant. But as many times as the SEC had a team in the Sugar, there was no tie-in until 1975. The Orange by and large was deemed a better bowl than the Sugar because NBC paid the Orange Bowl more money than ABC paid the Sugar Bowl.

I-59, you are probably aware of the influence Coach Bryant held in bowl selections. Not just the Sugar but the others as well. Especially in the era before bowl tie-ins. If he wanted GA in the Gator and aTm in the Orange he got it, even if BAMA was not playing in either. Few will ever trully comprehend the power in college football he held in his prime.

Well... that's one interpretation. The other is that limits on number of recruits had to be instituted b/c Bear Bryant cheated in recruiting, and also recruited more players than he could play, to deprive other schools of players. Bear Bryant was the JR Ewing of college football, ruthless. Regardless, does the fact Alabama historically has had a good football program personally made your life any better? What exactly did YOU do personally do to contribute to Alabama's football success?

How did I insinuate he didn't nor even remotely lead into that ? All I said was the Sugar rarely,if ever equaled the Orange nationally because NBC was able to pay more than ABC could pay the Sugar.

I'm well aware of Coach Bryant's influence (generally accepted by the bowl people, but not always) on bowls. My comment was only Sugar vs Orange.
