hmmm...are you related to mayor holden, or are you just plain stupid? get off this computer once in a while and watch your local news or read you local paper...actually you can use your computer to look up br crime stats....last count i had was your city was ranked #6 in the nation just a year or so ago.

I've lived in BR most of my life and I assure you the south half of the city is just fine for the most part. How much time have you spent here?

Not Arkansas, unless you count predominantly student-rented houses and apartments "the hood" (I don't)

The only crimes in the neighborhoods around the UA campus are drug/alcohol related (students partying too hard and get busted, and we have Dickson Street right next door so there's a lot of PI's and DWI's), and a little simple burglary stuff, like stolen bikes and random unattended items. Virtually no violence at all.

This actually goes for the whole town. The rate of violent crime is very low. The rate of property crime is probably average.

UK had 3 armed robberies ON CAMPUS all within 2 weeks of each other in October. Kinda strange, because as has been said, there really aren't any shady areas near campus.

i've lived in b.r. (second time around) for 11 years now and it's been very enjoyable. we have lots of good friends and there are plenty of interesting things to do. a friend from oxford came down for the ole miss game and was blown away by campus and had a great time in b.r. that's saying something because oxford has some really enjoyable aspects. obviously, traffic is horrible but there are several major projects going right now which will help tremendously

the area north of lsu has improved significantly in the last couple of years but, there is still rough ghetto just a few blocks north of campus. it seems to me that if you're an investor, that area would make money. cheap to buy/demolish and is improving.

when i went to the florida game last year, the downtown area looked pretty run down, at least the part i saw which was by the game day bus stop going to campus. not anything like the square in oxford or athens. i was also surprised how dead it was considering it was a very big game day. shops weren't open and there wasn't a lively atmosphere like oxford and athens.

It is?

Clarke County is the smallest county in the state, making it the state's poorest based on per capita income. It's no surprise considering half the county's population is either a student at UGA or works there.

Also, poorest doesn't always mean "hood" FWIW.

Why do lsu fans act like Little rock is too rough for them if N.O. and BR are worse? You'd think they'd be used to it.

Both Ole Miss and Mississippi State's campuses are located in great areas, but both are in small towns and that has a lot to do without being near a ghetto.

I honest don't even think there is a "ghetto" or bad areas in Oxford.

Never been to Memphis. Is it worse than UCincy? You take a single step off that campus in any direction and there's a good chance you'll be losing your wallet or life.

Just so I don't sound like a complete hater, thier campus itself is pretty damn nice.

Never been to Cincy, but I'd be willing to bet Memphis can compete.

Memphis is weird though. North of Campus you have Galloway and some of the most affluent neighborhoods in the city. South of Memphis is Orange Mound.

Ive been to both Cincy and Memphis, and Memphis by far is in a far worse neighborhood. Not saying that Cincinnati's campus isnt in a bad area (it is) but Memphis is by far worse in my opinion.

Memphis is scary. When we played in the Liberty Bowl against them last year, I was praying I would make it into the stadium and out of it without getting my throat cut. I've lived near Memphis all of my life and have never been afraid while there, except going into that game. I knew in my mind that a bunch of thugs would be hanging around waiting to mug people going into that game. It was too easy for them not to. Surprisingly, I didn't hear of any incidents, though it was heavily guarded with security near the stadium...

Gainesville is a shite hole. The whole city is like living in the hood.

I know because I have extended family there.

A lot of cities are like that. The ghetto is separated from some very wealthy areas by only a few blocks in places like DC, New Orleans, New York, etc.
