Cool, you ran thru a weak conference.

Now do postseason results.

LSU has had 7 seasons with fewer than 3 losses the past 20 years. They have had zero with greater than 5. They've had 3 national titles. You tell me what the outlier is. A national title season or a losing record?

So they have had 13 seasons with 3 or more losses in the last 20 seasons? Isn’t that 65% of the time?

Sure. Is that better or worse than 0%?

5-3 in that time period. All Big 6 bowls.

When did I say that? I said they weren't in the same conversation with Alabama and Ohio State as a program. I said nothing about them in comparison to LSU. It's been much easier for them to build a perennial playoff team when their season never really starts until January.

Clemson has been good for like 5 years. They haven't earned the right to be compared with programs like Alabama and OSU. They're really no better than LSU has been at times, or Florida for that matter. Fortunately, they get to play in the ACC every year and have no competition until the post-season.

This season is going to hurt the program just as much as last season helped.

Dumb dumb dumb. This season will help exponentially in recruiting blue chip players that want to play right away on both sides of the ball. If people are too stupid to see that losing 19 starters plus 3 guys that opted would make it difficult to play at the same level as we did last year, I don’t know how better to explain it. Losing Myles hasn’t helped things either.

So you "reload" every year to not even win 2/3 of your yearly Big 6 bowl runs?

I was referencing from 2003-2007 when LSU finished in the top 5 4 out of 5 seasons and won 2 national titles. "At times" was not in reference to right now.

Regardless of your thoughts about Clemson and their conference, my point is that despite your 3 titles and 4 title game appearances this century, no one will respect LSU as a perennial contender like they do Alabama, OSU, or Clemson until LSU can learn to reload and stay consistently great instead of having these Auburn style great seasons followed by several years of 8-4 or 9-3.

OSU is basically Oklahoma at this point.

Eh, how much other people respect LSU's program doesn't have any effect on how I enjoy my Saturdays. I started following LSU football in the early 90s. I can assure you I have been plenty pleased with what I've seen from the program the last 20 years as opposed to the first 10 I watched. A bad season doesn't ruin my life believe it or not (maybe it did when I was a teenager with nothing else to do). I have no control over the hires made or the product on the field. And nothing that happens this year will take away how much fun last year was. As you get older, things like this become less important. I enjoy the fun and don't dwell on the losses. Everyone can't be Alabama, and no one in this conference ever will be. It is what it is. I just find it funny how much people on this board try to tell each other what it takes to be a program like that like any of us has any means to do anything about it.

So "at times" was referencing 15 years ago? Yes, I agree LSU was much more consistent 15 years ago at the end of Saban's tenure and beginning of Miles'. That was a long time ago though.

I mean in the grand scheme, 15 years ago really isn't that long ago. We're talking about a run that ended 8 years before Clemson's started. 8 years isn't a long time unless you're 20 years old. I also referenced Florida. When we're talking about a pretty small group of programs, limiting yourself to timeline of 5 years wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Then why are you asking a question like "How many of you would take the season that LSU is having this year"?

Can we make it retroactive so that A&M's 2003 and 2008 seasons count?

What OU has done is not the same. They haven’t really sniffed a title. They’ve gotten there from their weak conference and didn’t belong. Clemson clearly does.

I would generally. With Saban at Alabama right now, it's not really something that's likely to happen.

But in 2008 I would have easily taken it. In 2000 we basically had such a shitty season and didn't even win a NC.

Believe it or not, I didn't start this thread.
