In.....1952.
Glad I didn't bet the family farm that they'd win another one by now.

Dawgs did not have to play State or Tide in 1980

I wasn’t alive in 1980.

That's the team that set off 16 straight years of probation for Bama and a DB was deemed ineligible but Bama didn't have to forfeit games like any other school would have to

I was living. The question is if you were alive when UGA won, will you see another one? One legit AP NC in history. Will lightning strike twice? IMHO, The answer is UGA will never win another in my lifetime.

Crap. Auburn went 53 years in between National Championships. INMHO, Auburn will nto win another one in your lifetime, either.
And, fwiw, the AP has not always been the do all end all in naming National Championships. Other polls were more prestigious when Georgia won in 1942 and one of those named Georgia.
On the other hand...in 1957 when Auburn won their first NC, they were on probation for paying players. Want to guess what was happening when Auburn won their second NC? Yep. They were under investigation for (Wait for it) paying players. I think we all see a pattern developing here.

What came out of the year long investigation that was so thorough that if Cam took a shite the NCAA knew what color it was?
Who was the coach on staff in 1957 that did the paying? Where did he end up being a head coach and winning a title? If he was a known cheat, and patterns of cheating don't change, should his championship be questioned too? Surely the once in a generation player that played the main role in that title run was paid by a coach with, as you call it, a pattern of cheating
Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones or walk around without pants on at night with all the lights on

As has been discussed, UGA's 1942 claim should be marked as the Cowards NC. 1942 was during the war years when the best were actually fighting to save the world, then whatever rocks your boat. This was the year after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941.

There were only 2 polls that existed at the time, and neither one picked UG. Y'all claimed it decades later.

That's pretty dishonest. Hope you aren't turning into Cobb Dawg.
First of all, Auburn wasn't under investigation for paying players. Cam Newton was under investigation because of discussions between Miss State boosters and his father. It never had anything to do with Auburn. Auburn was a aware of the situation the entire time and chose to play him, confident that his eligibility was not in question.
2nd, you failed to mention the results of said investigation. Say what you want about 1957 (I could care less about what happened half a century ago), but at least be honest about 2010
