I usually go to one game a year. I used to have season tickets, but as time went on the costs went up. Seat licensing fees and parking fees increased almost every year. Then the insane changes to the traffic pattern after the games, and I was fed up.

Only when I was a student. I go to like one game every three years, and a lot of times it’s an away/bowl game.
I go to my NFL teams games every year. One home and one away. NFL is a lot easier because it’s in cities that have easy access international airports, and a lot more hotels/places to stay. College is tough because it’s mostly small rural towns with limited accommodations to stay, which makes it more expensive and logistically tougher, though I like CFB atmosphere wayyy more than NFL.

Used to go to every one of them. Didn't miss a home game from 1997-2012. Didn't miss a single game anywhere from 2004-2012 (101 consecutive). Nowadays I still go to about 10ish a year but just don't have the desire to do all of em. And the way the sport has changed it's probably not too long that my number dwindles even more.

Wow…these posts don’t bode well for the future of college football. Most everyone is saying the same thing. It is getting very difficult to go.

I began to slow down about 5 year ago, and now only attend one or two a year. It's just too expensive, too crowded, too much hassle to get in and park, and then the nightmare of getting out.
This right here. It's a $200-250 day after you get your tickets, even more for if four people go.
I live within driving distance. I can't imagine having to do a hotel too.
I know some Vol Navy people who now watch the game on the boat. They save the ticket cost. The cost of taking a boat to Knoxville and back from Nickajack, Chickamauga, ot Watts Bar is insane. Some come from down in Alabama.

At some point, no matter how much money they have, people will start questioning the cost. When you start hitting $400-500 per person for a football game, and we are damn close, people will balk.
The sport isn't dying, it's killing itself. They are gonna have to get these player payments, coaches salaries, and Taj Mahal stadiums under control.
In most states the highest paid state employee, is the football coach.

The overall tax on an active college football fan is astronomical…I mean, where do we go from here?

The main "getting difficult" thing for me is I live 4 hours away and have 2 young children. My priorities have simply shifted. Thinking about making another trip to Kentucky or Missouri just isn't on my radar.
Going to a new venue is big for me though and will almost always happen. The orange bowl, SoFi, Texas game, etc I didn't hesitate.
No matter how shitty the sport gets bc of the shitheads in charge, and no matter how insane home entertainment setups get, there is absolutely NOTHING that can replicate a good lower level seat in the stadium watching the pads popping and seeing thr lights reflect off the helmets in person. Nothing.

I’ve been to three:
LSU Miami 2018 WIN
LSU - Bama 2023 Loss
Vegas this yr. Loss
I’m a jinx and OUT.

I go to all home games unless I’m out of town. I may skip a cupcake here and there. I go to every egg bowl home and away since mid 90s. Try to go to bowl games if they’re decent. Ole Miss parking has gotten out of hand.

Parking at Ole Miss is insane…a parking pass is much more valuable than a game ticket.

1-2 games per year. Usually 1 home game and 1 away game. I’m in the minority, but I like the neutral site games. Openers or playoffs.

I had season tickets for several years.
I got older. Prices went up. It seemed like “work” to go to a game. Sort out the start time. Figure out hotel. Food.
I guess I got to see 2010 so that was worth the hassle.
Last home game I went to was 2019. Metal detectors were started that year. Just another layer of nonsense.
September is just hot and uncomfortable for an old guy like me. Night games seem to never quite start on time and often it ends up closer to 4 hours than 3.
So 3 hour plus drive, get there early, 4 hour game, spend the night in hotel.
Even sort of scrimping it burns $500 with tickets, hotel, food, gas, etc.
Just not worth it for me anymore.

If you stay overnight I don’t know how you do it for $500….I live 4 hours away from Oxford, and of course the local hotels gauge us on game weekends, so again, not sure how you do it for $500.

The guy I replaced at Ole Miss had a really nice home and pool in Oxford. He'd get 1500-2000 a weekend for football games and around 1000 a weekend for big weekend series in baseball.
Paid off a nice RV in his 4 years there and got a nice enough return on the homesale to buy an Orange Theory franchise when he left and retired.
Oxford is shockingly expensive compared to its surrounding areas.

I went to Vegas this year and I usually attend about 4 home games
I sell the others to fund how much it’s costing these days
Once my kid graduates I will likely let him use most of the tickets

We try to go to 1 or 2 games a year. I try to hit an early non-conference game that’s cheap and 1 SEC game. 4 tickets and a hotel room on game day isn’t cheap.
