Absolutely....Ratliff was having a great game that day overall. Nutt should have had Stoerner just plowing ahead on the snap in order to waste some time. Vols had just one time out left.

Like I said Tennessee had nothing to apologize for that season.

I remember being in the Dome for that Syracuse Tenn game, was one of the best I saw as a teenager before moving to SEC country. Tenn offensive line was just blowing SU off the line by the 4th. The pi call was tough and depending on your color orange it was right or wrong. The 2 calls against SU for equipment violations, pants not covering knees, opened my eyes to SEC officials before I moved south. Had never seen that call before or after that day.

Wow. CFB fan of over 30 years and I can't recall every seeing that penalty enforced.

They started the pants call back up a few years ago. NCAA wanted the issue dealt with and so refs called it every now and then for like a season and then forgot about it. Of course, we're talking about when pants were becoming dangerously close to cycling shorts for some and really I think equipment suppliers like Nike and Adidas were as to blame as some of the player choices to wear a size or 3 too small as opposed to 98 when that wasn't really much of an issue.

Ratliff knocked Burlsworth backwards so Stoener could trip over his ankle.

Ratliff only had one tackle in that game. Burlsworth was basically running him over every play until the very end. Billy Ratliff was a great player for us. He recovered fumbles in 3 consecutive games that year.
