Wait!!! In year 3 of the Chizik plan only 4 wins were expected? That is the definition of underachieving......

National pundits and fans from coast to coast expecting Auburn to be a sub .500 team and then winning (at least) 7 games and going to a bowl is underachieving to you?

George Orwell could take one look at you and be well pleased.

Why would we care to know that level of detail about Auburn?

Why comment on something that you don't know about??

And Obama still blames Bush. The facts are in reality these "Top 5" recruiting classes have underachieved, both on and off the field. Dyer is most likely done. 4 are about to stand trial for armed robbery. OMac is exploring. 37 scholly athletes for spring practice is an issue.

Year 3 is the turning point, and it seems that there is a huge disconnect between many on the direction of AU.

If, when you hired Gene the plan was to only win 4 games in the 3rd year of rebuilding, someone made a terrible mistake.

Looking at it closely, take away an on sides kick and a QB's stupidity on the last play of huge game and this team is 5-7. This is a team whose offense ranked 104th with a genius. This is a team whose Defense ranked in the bottom quad nationally. Not the kind of performance expected from a program in year 3 of rebuilding.

When Chiz was hired it was known that '11 was going to be rough because of what happened to the '07 and '08 recruiting classes. It also didn't help that two of college football's best player's left early. Winning 7 games this year was certainly meeting or exceeding all reasonable expectations. You can generalize and spin it any way you like, but the reality is, so far he has met or exceeded expectations every year based on the cards he was dealt.

ETA: IMO, we won't know for sure about Chiz until 2013. Although we should get a decent idea by the end of next season.

Oh, you're talking about PERSONAL expectations. In that case, we know that Gene Chizik expects to win every game because he's said it before. And he's been crystal clear that he has never been satisfied with losing.

But the "expectations" we are speaking of are the PUBLIC expectations of others. You... Bama fans... national pundits... local media. Can you provide me a link to where you or the others that I listed expected great success out of the Auburn football team this year? Hell, a majority of AUBURN fans didn't expect great success out of Auburn's team this year.

You really are a dumbass, aren't you?

And taking away Cam and Nick last year, we don't win the SEC or the BCS.

Take away Mathieu this year, LSU doesn't win the SEC and would not be in the BCS.

Take away your Daddy's dick and he'd be your Mom.

We are all about to find out. Not a lot of coaches out there right now to fill his assistant slots.

I have been extremely impressed with AU this year. I really didn't expect them to make a bowl game with everyone that they lost last year.

He has certainly taught his players how to win which is a true art of coaching.

Of course we really won't be able to get a full view of Chizik for another few years but he impressed me this year.

Chizick is better than most SEC fans give him credit for but worse than the Auburn homers say he is. He's a decent coach.

Chizik's teams have sucked except when he had a freak of nature turn in one of the most impressive seasons in NCAA football history. You Auburn fans have your head in the sand. Even with losing all that auburn lost, Chizk has recruited in the top 10 since he has been at Auburn. Les miles went 8-4 with a freshman qb and almost all LSU fans wanted him on the hot seat. Another thing that would make me apprehensive is that he is a defensive minded coach and every year auburn's def hasn't been good. They were good against the run last year but thats it.
