Why would DT have played for LSU back in the 90's?

Unless he had a time machine, I assume he would play in the same era--the 80s.

Teague, giving u a rough time this am and u are a good poster. BTW, gonna get crushed here, but don't see HB as a NFL type DB. I agree with his size and speed issues, but he does make plays.

Ok, now in beautiful Odessa, TX.....time to work

I know most Bama fans dont think your way, at least the ones I know. TM7 is the best defensive playmaker in the country. In less than 2 years worth of games he set the ALL TIME Ncaa record for forced fumbles. And he plays in the SEC and played on the team that played the toughest schedule in the country last year. In the NC game AJ threw perfect passes. I mean perfect. NO DB can defend a perfectly thrown pass.

All in all I honestly think he is one of the most electric players in the game who can do it all. Returning kicks he sparked 2 wins (Ark, Ga), On special teams he turned the Oregon game with the strip and TD. Look at the WVA game when he made the pick at the line of scrimmage. Go back and look at his freshman year highlites

You have a serious lack of knowledge of football. And I do admit most Bama and LSU fans have a high football IQ. Just not you.

Late 80's, then. I was young. Either way, why would he have gone to LSU?

It is the same reason you guys think Joe Namath was a good quarterback.

YOur FG kicker put up 15 of the 21. And TR made the long run if you remember. The WR made good catches of good throws but did not break any for 6 if I remember correctly.

This is the only reason I pick on TM. You guys think he's the greatest defensive player in football. I've said repeatedly that he's a very good player and he makes a lot of plays. But you guys are over the top. I'd like to have him on our team, sure. But, DAMN. I DO know about football and that's why I know he's not THAT great. I told you guys Bama would pick on him in the NC game. How did I know that? Because he was your worst DB in coverage. Your worst DB in coverage is NOT the best defensive player in the country, no matter how many big, ESPN Top 10 highlight plays he had. He's good. He's an asset, but he has limitations. If you guys could be realistic, I wouldn't make fun of you all the time.

You have to remember, LT, the Bama threshold for greatness is a moving target. If you are good in college and you play for a non-Bama team, you won't make a good pro (though it is irrelevant to how good the player is in college). If draft-niks say you will be a good pro, they standard is, can you shut down Megatron. Obviously going to be a bust.

Remind me of the awesome play that Mathieu made during the NCG or even back in November?....

so if a player doesn't make game changing plays in every game, they arent good?

I dont remember him making one play on defense

what do you mean by play? turnovers, tackles?

Mathieu was exposed during the NCG theres no hope for you.

If you think Mathieu is not good, because he didnt make any game altering plays in a couple games over the course of an entire season, you need to go back to your xbox.

how tall was maze?

google search tyrann mathieu trent richardson award ceremony--they stood side by side. Trent Richardson was an inch or two taller than Mathieu and he measured 5'9 at the NFL combine.

That might be a valid point until you remember that the best cornerback in the country has been at LSU since DB guru Saban has been at Alabama. I think that is why you are so bitter about Mathieu's success. He hasn't been the best cover corner on a team that has produced the best cornerback in the SEC two straight years in a row. All that, and he is still the most productive player with those other talented individuals on the field. It blows your mind. He is DT and you can't handle that he wears the purple and gold.

I believe you. I think 5'8 may be pretty accurate.

dude the honey badger had no positive effect on the NCG. none. He literally did nothing in that game. He is 5'7 - 5'8. Stop bringing up Maze, Ive literally said nothing about Maze at all. This post is the literally the first time Ive even typed out his name in this thread. I'll say it again for the 3rd time, Mathieu is talented, he is also quick enough to make all of the plays, he is just too short/small to be an elite CB in the NFL.

He will run in the 4.4's and have the fastest 3 cone when he goes to the combine. TM is one of the quickest guys in CFb. May not have elite speed but he gets to his top speed within a couple steps.

He's not a blazing guy and that will probably hurt him on draft day
What he does have is football speed and the ability to stop/start and cause mayhem on a football field - that is instinct and will serve him just as well at the next level
In the NFL he probably will be a nickel or dime guy
The amazing thing about him is that he stepped in at safety when Eric Reid got hurt and the defense did not miss a beat

Actually, no. I'm honest. I like the guy, although his twitter mouth has started to change that. I'll give you PP or Claiborne as the best CB's in football during their years. But not TM. Because he's not. It has nothing to do with jealousy. I just don't get my opinion from Sportscenter.
