We will not win a game our defense will regress and our offense will be worse than the Gator's once we lose JFF and Evans

A serious answer lies in an analysis of what is returning and coming in.
Quarterback - return sophomore Kenny Hill and senior Matt Joeckel. Add top rated QB Kyle Allen in December.
With a spring under his belt, Allen will either start in 2014 or redshirt. No in-between.
Running Back - return juniors Trey Williams, Tra Carson and Brandon Williams as well as redshirt freshman James White. Add 4-star RB Shaun Nixon.
Will be more talented at running back in 2014 than in 2013.
Wide Receiver - return seniors Malcome Kennedy and LeKendrick Williams, junior Sabian Holmes, sophomores Edward Pope, Jeremy Tabuyo, Jaquay Williams and Laquivionte Gonzales, and redshirt freshmen Ricky Seals-Jones, Kyrion Parker, and Sebastian Larue. Add 3* Jamal Jeffery and likely 4* (6'7 220) Edward(?) Ihanacho
The combination of RSJ, Parker, Larue, and Ihanacho will have to make up for the loss of Evans.
Tight End - return senior Cameron Clear and junior Brandon Alexander.
No real net gain or loss
Offensive Line - return seniors Cedric Ogbuehi, Jarvis Harrison, Ben Compton, and Garrett Gramling, juniors Mike Matthews and Joseph Cheek, sophomores Germain Ifedi, Kimo Tipoti, and Jeremiah Stuckey, and redshirt freshmen Ismael Wilson and Joas Aguilar. Gain 4 star Zach Ledwik, 3 stars Koda Martin, Kealvin Davis, and J.J. Gustafson, and possibly Braden Smith and the JUCO from College of DuPage.
This year, we returned 3 starters and lost Luke Joeckel. Next year, we return 4 starters and lose Jake Matthews. We'll be fine.
Defensive Line: return every player except for senior Kirby Ennis. Add 5-star Myles Garrett, 4-stars Qualen Cunningham, D'Shawn Washington, and 3-star Jared Johnson. Possibly add Solomon Thomas.
Can't get worse.
Linebacker: return every player except for Nate Askew and Steven Jenkins. Have TCU transfer A.J. Hilliard eligible. Get Josh Walker and (hopefully) Hoza Scott. In the mix for about 3-4 others.
Can't get worse.
Secondary: return every player except for Tramaine Jacobs. Gain 4 studs in recruiting and have a healthy Kameron Miles.
Secondary is ok = the rest of the defense is awful.
Special Teams - return everyone.

Will probably drop football to avoid embarrassment and concentrate on Quidditch.

Sumlin will be completely lost without Manziel or Evans. Won't have any idea what to do with himself...
Probably just drop the passing game completely. Maybe we'll quick kick on first down to save our offense from embarassment.

Sumlin is recruiting lights out. So the future is bright. Possibly 2015 or 2016 season where A&M will contend. Possibly earlier, if the defense massively improves lol but I highly doubt it. The offense will obviously take a step back but it will still be potent. Sumlin is no slouch on offense.
But to answer the question, finish above the grinders and Arkansas, hopefully get a bowl invite, and the defense shows signs of growth. Oddly with young QBs, not even worried about the offense next season.

i'm not trying to say that a&m will suck but those two things haven't made them overly successful the past how many ever decades.

Instead of having this topic pop up only 3 times a week, would it be possible to have this conversation at least every other day between now and next season's kick off?
Thanks in advance

^ piggilicious is 100% correct. I think we can go anywhere from 7-6 to 9-4 of Johnny doesnt come back. Sumlin isnt going anywhere. It wont have all the pre season excitement like we had this year but still enjoyable season. Playing in the SEC and going 7-6 is a hell of a lot better then playing in the bigwtf and going 11-2...IMHO

Without Manziel they are at best 8 wins. That's stretching it. That is this year as well. No defense. Maybe amoung the worst I've ever seen, period.
Posted on 10/25/13 at 5:59 pm to Settingthestandard
Ok... I realize Manziel is a playmaker and y'all just suffered a loss but why such a negative outlook for the future? Recruiting should be good and if Sumlin is half the coach everyone says he is then Aggy should be fine.
Posted on 10/25/13 at 6:05 pm to Prof
Because if sumlin is any good he is going to leave ASAP and if he is terrible, he will suck after manziel leaves. The defense will never be any good regardless of all of the 5 stars he is pulling in. And once he leaves, all of our recruits will leave and if he stays, we will suck so we will lose our recruits then

Someone being serious in this thread? WTH?
I thought most of the Aggie replies in this thread were obviously overly negative on purpose, but maybe that's just me.
Losing Manziel (if A&M does) is obviously a big deal. Evans, too. A&M has some stud DL's coming in next year, and coupled with the redshirt guys from this year it's possible the defense won't suck. We'll see. QB battle will be interesting (assuming JFF leaves). They'll have a new All-Everything freshman QB vs. Kenny Hill. Either would be good but obviously not JFF - but then, who is? A&M will be fine.
Posted on 10/25/13 at 6:22 pm to finestfirst79
Nah 9-3. The JFF 'experience' will bolster recruiting. They will be a 9-3 seasonal force. Spiking in an excellent season here and there, kinda like UGA or Auburn. Unless Sumlin goes full Chiztard.

I thought they were overwrought but then again I've seen SEC fans of many teams commit seppuku for less than what A&M has suffered this season.
