It doesn't mean anything IMO. At least we know we can finish #3 in the SEC and still get a shot at NC
Who finished #2? UGA?

Less than 1 week after dropping from the number one spot to number two, everyone has put LSU at number one again. Do you like having the bullseye on you again ? We have been the hunted instead of the hunter for a long time now.
Me, I feel like letting Alabama enjoy their well-deserved national title while we lick our wounds.....
Yes, I'm excited about our chances next Fall, but there is lot of off-season between now and then.

Preseason polls are worth the same thing has the Super Dome is worth to LSU this year.

Potential =/= Performance as we painfully witnessed on 1/9/12.
After that dismal performance it became evident that LSU was not prepared for the game, nor did the team seam motivated to face Bama again.
I don't think LSU deserves number 1 despite the talent coming back.
There seems to be tangible deficiencies in the coaching staff that have not been corrected. Ergo I expect similar results next year: beating inferior teams and struggling with or losing to teams with comparable talent due to said defiencies.
The stubborness and inflexibility I witnessed on 1/9 (and other times) does not fill me with confidence that this staff can put together game plans that can defeat powerful opponents on a consistent basis.
That said, I'll always be fan, albeit one with tempered expectations.

LSU will be #1 in the first poll.
They were young and have quality replacements to suit up. QB play will be easy to replace.

if LSU were ranked after Bama, there would be comments deriding that choice.
its impossible to please everyone, and SOME people are never satisfied.
I am delighted that the returning players are highly regarded.
And like most of you LSU fans, I am hoping that having one easy game to start the season will allow one or two QBs to emerge in time for SEC play.
