IMO:

LSU's defense will be a tad bit worse since they lost Patrick Peterson, Drake Nevis, and Kelvin Sheppard. I don't understand how they could get better after losing those caliber of athletes.

Bama's defense will be more than a tad bit better. They return everyone outside of Dareus. Menzie, Kirkpatrick, Lester, Barron, and Milliner in the secondary is scary. Hightower, Moseley, Harris, UpShaw, and Nico Johnson at linebacker is also scary.

The question about both teams is the offense. I expect both to rely heavily on the run this season.. LSU has a couple more playmakers out wide, but Bama has Richardson. JJ is experienced, but still sucks.. And both of Bama's are just flat out inexperienced.

We'll be hit hard at LB.. Sheppard will be hard to replace. Our secondary as a unit improves because of the upgrades at safety. DL should be the same (or better).. Sam Montgomery will be back on the line and that alone will be a tremendous addition.

We'll miss PP7 the most on special teams tbh.. we lost a special CB but the guy replacing him is special too.

Debatable. Middle of the defense may suffer but I doubt the rest will. Getting Montgomery back will be huge as well.

Judging a CB's worth based on number of tackles? Sound.

I wouldn't feel confident at all in this game if I was an LSU fan.

I wouldn't feel confident at all if I was an Alabama fan either. Both fan bases should be confident.. gonna be a battle Miles is gonna take the lead against Saban this year though. He'll probably widen it the year after too. If LSU wins this year it will turn into 3 in a row.

Sheppard will be the toughest to replace. We will even better in the secondary by the 6th game.

DLine is a bit of a worry, because I believe it will take a few games for Sam to get back up to speed. Freak and EGO will company Bockers and make a hell of an impact.

Minter is guy that needs to step up and make some noise. he is taking over for Sheppard and should have a solid career, but he really needs to take control and make it his defense.

Bottom line is, we will be just fine.
