I think more people would melt if LSU gives Kiffin a massive contract than a non big name hire.

Really? Kiffin at LSU would scare the shite out of me.

Sumrall is my #2, not underwhelmed by it at all. I've liked his work since Troy.

Sumrall is sitting pretty and about to make bank because of the lack of name candidates compared to the number of openings...so someone is going to massively overpay...give a ridiculous buyout...to a proven winner...in the Sunbelt.

Kentucky made a big mistake not getting him last year when they probably easily could have.

Sumrall would be a decent hire...but that'd be a big jump since he's never been a Power 4 HC. More of a Kentucky or Arkansas level hire...not Florida or LSU at this point. But again...not much out there.

Why would Kiffin leave a place he can make a million dollars per win per year to go to a place where that same performance will get him burned at the stake?

Kiffin isn’t leaving unless he gets a fully guaranteed contract but if he does LSU is a better job because Louisiana breeds NFL talent and 99% of them stay home.

The appetite for a big contract isn't around right now. I think Kiffin would be an excellent fit and would likely retain most of the roster and incoming class.

How cheap can you go? Even Sumrall would command at least an 8M per year contract at LSU. A certain floor comes with just being the HC at a place like LSU. Is it better to pay 8M a year for a guy worth 4M or 14M a year for a guy worth 12M?

Why? He's only making $3M now, why couldn't you get him for like $6M?

6M would make him the 3rd lowest paid coach in the SEC. Do you really thing there’s a chance that happens? He would only be in front of Lea and Lebby. It’ll be 8M if it’s him because that puts him right below Venables at 11th highest.

Great? That’s a stretch. Solid is the best you could say until he proves it on the field.

Most I’ve heard would be pretty happy with Sumrall or Golesh. They are not big names, but both are young coaches with great reputations.

I’d personally rather go that route than to overpay for Kiffin or some other name brand.

You wanted Kelly to stay. Likely shitting your pants and expecting a loss in two weeks, as you should be.

What’s the prevailing thought on Brent Keys?

Fit is more important than anything. Kelly was obviously a horrible hire, but not many candidates would be a good fit in BR.

This is a crazy statement. You must be an Auburn fan. LSU has deep pockets, a fertile recruiting ground and a rabid fanbase. They are a fit for most good/great coaches.

Lane chooses which job he wants. LSU or Florida.
James Franklin takes the other.
