LSU isn't tearing down 90+% of their stadium either.
Kyle Field is getting a complete overhaul.
That's like comparing a woman getting a face lift to a burn victim getting a complete facial reconstruction.
you are missing the point.

i would assume so. lsu is as well and they look way ahead of a&m.
Our completion date isn't scheduled until 2015.
We'll be fine.

for the whole thing. but you said the south and one of the sidelines would be ready for this year. or are you now saying that's not the case?

2 phased project. Half this offseason, half next offseason.

am i staring at the south endzone in this picture?
Posted on 1/14/14 at 2:19 pm to bbap
The POV from that camera is the north endzone. To the left is the student side. The south endzone has only had temporary bleachers. The building you see in the back is the Netum Steed strength and conditioning facility.

oh ok. so that endzone will be completely empty this year?

I'm really not sure. It's always been empty save for bleachers and the jumbotron. I think they're fixing the field and east side first, then building the south endzone.

so the south endzone was the built up endzone already that looks like florida?
what are they doing to change that? i thought that end was pretty new.

No, that was the north endzone. The south endzone is what the camera is facing.

oh well in that case i stand by what i said. there is nothing at all there. i assume yall are building it up the nearly the same heights as the other sides of yalls stadium. yall got a long way to go. lsu is worried about finishing in time and look how much further ahead they are on their south side.

They are not doing anything to the North End Zone other than tearing down and replacing the facade to match the rest of the renovation.
The building in the background of the picture everyone is referencing is the Bright Football Complex, not Steed. Steed was torn down. That is the South End Zone.
The South End Zone structure is being constructed concurrent with the East side first deck, the new East side press box and sun shade, the new east side entrance ramps, and the new East side concourses.
Yes, the official plan is for the South End Zone facility to be finished for kickoff of the '14 season. However, it is not going to be concrete construction like the rest of the old stadium. It's a pre-cut, partially pre-assembled metal erector set. It'll go up fast once the utilities and footing work is done.

gotcha. downvote to erector set though.

They're hiding the erector set behind an attractive facade. It won't be displayed like Auburn's end zone.

They're saying the capacit for 2014 will be 109k people so the south will have to be up.
Once the west side is demolished and redone stadium capacity will go to the standard 102.5k

It's going to be approximately the same height as the other end zone but wider. It's "bigger" but "simpler". It won't contain a huge club facility with kitchens and bars and a dining room or a separate club seating area, or suites, all of which the North End Zone has, all of which add considerable infrastructure complications.
From what I've been told, the "bones" of the South End Zone - the steel erector set, are or will be soon all laying in a yard in pre-assembled units for transport. All the units are numbered and labeled and will be transported to the site in a pre-arranged sequence. This way, as the pre-assembled sections arrive, they just lift them into place and bolt them together to the other pre-assembled units.
LSU's addition is more substantial in terms of the materials and that is why it is taking a long time - they're pouring concrete into forms, waiting got it to cure, adjusting the form, pouring again, waiting for it to cure, repeat. A&M won't be doing that.
