outside of a shorter construction time what other details(cost, life cycle) are affected?

Is this method more expensive?
How does this method stand up over time?

shorter construction time

Was the single most important factor.

you could 3D print anything. obviously you could do a cake but it wouldnt be edible.

I of course meant a 3D printer that would churn out edible cakes...an edible version of this...

...or any other famous stadium would be big sellers. Think of end-of-the-year award ceremonies featuring 3D printed cakes like the above.

Rooting for a cluster frick in your ticket office once y'all realize the stadium won't be ready.

Why?
The singular issue the choice was made (after endless discussions & proposals) to construct in the manner they are: Businesses that earn the bulk of their annual profits during football season would've been shut-down, had we had to relocate to Reliant Stadium for a year or two.
The university didn't want to do that to the community.
The project is first class--from top to bottom.
It'll be solid.

Can an Aggie help me out here?

Is it true y'all's stadium will not be at or near capacity during the 2014 regular season?

If so, what is the seating capacity of Kyle Field expected to be during the season?

TIA

It'll actually be temporarily greater than capacity during the 2014 season: 109,000.

In 2015 (and beyond), permanent official capacity will be just under 103,000.

Really wish they'd think about adding some more temp seats or w/e they have to do to eclipse the Big House. If only for one season.

I wouldn't put it past anyone--for at least one game--TigersOfGeauxld.

Haven't heard anything, though.

It's less expensive than concrete pour. Which is how UCF built their football stadium, Bright House Network Stadium, on the cheap...

so what are the negatives?

It looks like their addition will be just as tall as the rest of the the stadium...Why doesnt every stadium do more steel than concrete?

The ticket office announced not too long ago that this year's capacity will actually be around 106,900.

AFAIK, this is what UCF is planning:

Concrete is stronger, generally. In the future, we'll incresingly see newer composite systems (reinforced concrete is itself a composite system) where conventional structural steel sections are either filled or encased with concrete.

The overall performance of these types of frames are generally better than either of the constituent parts could offer individually. To take full advantage of these new hybrids we'll also often use "high performance" steels, concretes, polymers, composites, etc.

Saban has almost completed his new athletic complex. Every player will have a waterfall in their own locker.
