Fake stuff is pathetic. No excuse for anyone in the SEC to have that crap.

Aggies won't be selling SRO tickets. The listed capacity is how many fans can sit their butt in a seat. Unlike LSU which includes the corndog salespeople in their "capacity".

it's amazing people are acting offended by this. why do people care? when attendance numbers are announced for individual games, and this goes for everyone nation-wide, they count every single person inside the stadium, including those working concessions, ushers, media members, etc. LSU's capacity number that was released is the number of tickets they can actually sell to a game. What do so many people have a problem with this? Other schools do it. Just because other stadiums in this conference may not have SRO tickets for sale doesn't negate the fact LSU does. Who cares if they report those in their numbers?

only to people who are sod-tards. Our players never complain about it except for emptying out the rubber pellets from their shoes after the game. Matter of fact...I don't recall any opponents complaining about it either.

Meh, with the south end zone resembling the north end zone now, we're really down to remaking the east and west sides to match.

So then the current project doesn't really address what he said?

I know the same issue has cropped up at Faurot, our architects have worked pretty well to maintain a certain feeling of uniformity, but it's not all that easy when you rebuild a structure of that size in sections.

We are now all(most MU fans) excited about the prospect of rebuilding our south stadium end, which is really nothing more than a big pouring of concrete done in the late 70's. Part of the challenge will be making the east and west grand stands blend in, since they are not uniform. It's an interesting architectural challenge but not an impossible one. There will be some different possibilities for handling that issue, one of the things that keeps stadiums unique is how such challenges are dealt with and can make the stadium more interesting.

Not having been to Death Valley before it will be hard for me to judge the difference from it but grats on your new improvements all the same.

I love Tiger stadium. It's the best road trip in my opinion by far. But the stadium itself is completely hodgepodge. There are no parts like the other. The new endzone looks great but it doesn't mesh well with the rest of the stadium.

eh, the NEZ and SEZ match. The east and west uppers don't. However, this is not uncommon in old large stadiums that have gone through several expansions. i think eventually, Tiger Stadium will flow better. I do not believe they are done with the stadium, as is, for the foreseeable future

have no idea how players feel about it, but in my personal experience on it, i haven't been a fan. i feel like you have to run and cut differently on it than you do on natural grass. the footing just isn't the same. also, when it gets as hot as it does as far south as louisiana, that stuff gets soooo hot

not like it used to be, the old, early, astroturf carpet got hotter, the fake carpet at Busch used to routinely get above 125F, in the middle of summer. The reason Lonnie Smith ran so fast is because he was trying to cool his feet off.

The new stuff is much better at allowing air to pass up through it, allowing some of the heat to "vent" off. As far as footing goes, well ask a player if he likes the chance of real grass divoting when he cuts and blowing out his ACL? That really won't happen on new field turf.

In the grand scheme of things, it's not worth complaining about. I know a lot of guys that aren't partial to it, but you've got no choice but to play on it so what's the use in whining? Really it just comes down to climate and drainage. Can your program and grounds staff afford to maintain the natural grass in a given climate and is it even worth the effort given any unavoidable drainage issues that might exist? If the answer to either of those is 'No' then turf is a relatively maintenance free way of providing a still good playing field. I know UGA manages a good natural grass environment because it is fertilized and hydrated by Tanyard Creek which runs beneath the stadium. Otherwise, the grass would look like hell as it goes from blazing heat in August, September and early October to cold-arse chills in late October and November.

well apparently you don't understand the mechanics of changing directions on grass.

But there is a danger, and that's from having too much traction. Sometimes when you get hit low or get torqued being tackles, it's better for your footing to give way. That's what happened to Henry Josey, his foot couldn't turn when he needed it to, and his knee took all force.

So yea it can be a double edged sword, but just about every player I know would still rather have too much traction than too little.

However, the most recent study, in 2012, published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine found that college football players suffered knee injuries about 40 percent more often when playing on artificial turf versus natural grass, though specialized footwear developed for turf fields, as opposed to cleats for natural fields, may decrease the chances of injury, the authors note.

I was gonna say, UGA just put down brand spanking new practice turf fields with state of the art chips and everything. When asked if it's any cooler, guys were still saying "frick no." Hot is hot in August and September
