I'd like to see a time lapse video with some of those cranes in action.

JD, to answer your question about the second and third east side decks of Kyle being off center, the answer is yes. They moved the field 18' south. So those 2 decks will be 18' off center.

Makes sense, thanks.

Although, it would have made for a good story if the Bama fan had managed to make that side off-center.

I don't think I would mind sitting in the upper deck. Concessions and restrooms are right there. You don't miss anything. You can't get to both any quicker anywhere else in the stadium. I would gladly sit with the opposing fans up there.

Been saying this same thing for a while now...

If you visit Tiger Stadium and are fortunate enough to be seated in the new south end zone visitor's seats, You'll wonder why your stadium...or any other...doesn't offer similar amenities.

No where else will fans be just steps away from restrooms/concessions/stairs/elevators. No where.

A tribute to Tiger Stadium...best stadium in the SEC!

Basically, Tiger Stadium's SEZ addition sets a new standard for stadium expansions. It's self-supporting, it's built vertically so all the seats are as close as possible to the field, and it was designed to make access to exits, restrooms, and concessions as easy as possible.

Being built vertically rather than up and out like other end zone expansions at Alabama and Texas A&M means all the seats in the new upper deck are no further away from the field than the first few rows of the east and west upper decks...

What does that even mean? You make it sound like seats are stacked on top of each other, but really it looks just like any other deck.

It means that fans aren't seated out over the sidewalks outside the stadium. As is the case in other stadium expansions.

Look at that picture I provided again.

The furthest seat there is no further away than the first few rows of the east and west side upper decks.

That statement is not true for any other stadium.

It isn't one sloping deck. It's as if they cut it in five long strips and stacked them vertically. Everything from the section numbers up is new.

Agreed. However that doesn't its closer to the field. It means you have room to build out your stadium below.

If you taking about having smaller tier decks like the 2 new upper ddecks in your endzone then yeah thats nice. That is how Kyle Field is able to keep seats closer to the field all around the entire stadium.

And the thing is, it's not a lot of general seating being added, This expansion was about premium seating first and foremost. Which is why the amenities in it are nicer, and it's a better place to watch a game in.

Now that picture shows it. You can't even see those decks from above. That is nice if you are not wanting to add high # of seats and keep people closer. I assume those are some type of premium seating. That is pretty much how the zone club is on Kyle's north side.

The picture doesn't lie. No seat in the new addition is further away from the field than the first few rows of the existing upper decks. No other end zone addition in any other stadium can say that.

Correct, but your reasoning about hanging over a sidewalk has no barring on how close you are too the field.

Don't need to. You can see how the SEZ addition lines up with the other upper decks...

That's more because you didn't add very many seats than anything else. It's a small addition of mostly luxury seating, that was the goal in the first place. The end zone below it is already bowled out. Comparing what LSU did to what A&M did is bananas. Makes no sense. LSU already had TWO decks of end zone seating there. A&M had nothing. LSUs not being smarter or more economical with space, they just did a smaller project. Apples and oranges.

Look, I'm sorry to rustle jimmies here. LSU had a smaller project because they were already closer to the goal. It goes back to design. Unlike many stadiums in the SEC and around the country, Tiger Stadium never had a track inside.

I've said before, numerous times, how much respect I had for what Texas A&M has done with Kyle Field. It's a tremendous achievement, and I doubt anything like that project will be attempted again in this country.

But Tiger Stadium's addition is the wave of the future. With the rise in coverage and the improvement of television technology, you have to give fans a good reason to give up the comfort of their lazyboy recliners and their remotes.

This addition does that. It's about comfort, ease of access, and good sight lines.

Win, win, win.

A&M should have put more premium seating in... SEZ looks to be all bleachers. Going to have to go back and change it again in a few years.

Best comment I've seen in this thread is that A&M fans will have to be part billy goat to get up that new endzone deck.

Funny, but its better to be closer to the field even if its a steep climb.
