Crazy thing about this is I've actually heard his name thrown around.

Was he involved in the Porter hire at Memphis?

A lot of Memphis alumni wanted Porter. My dad played at Memphis, and he was all for it. Now, he can't even watch them.

As he laughs all the way to the bank...

He's a fricking snake oil salesman and a joke of a coach.
He sold his snake oil to Arky and OM, now he's a rich man..

Continue feeling sorry for Nuttsac and your pitiful SEC record.

He's not laughing IMO- he wanted to finish his career at OM and he effed it up.

But he rich tho

ETA: Why would I feel sorry for him? He's rich as frick and wasted the last 2 years of my football life. He can GTH.

I'd say the bigger factor is that the SECW is much better now than it was when Nuttster was going to ATL at Arky. The price of poker went way up and Nutt went all in with David F'n Lee. Predictably, he busted out big time.

I will agree with you that Arky has more potential than OM on the surface being the only school in an isolated state - it makes things much, much easier even if the state is historically meh regarding HS football talent.

Right on both counts, however I will say that with the right coach Ole Miss can win the SEC. Obviously, finding that right coach will be the key.

Yeah, I was just curious. I don't think anyone saw Porter tanking like he has.

Plus, Nutt got to play Ole Miss when he was at Arkansas. A large percentage of his SEC wins came against the Mississippis.

At Ole Miss, he was...well...Ole Miss.

I am glad Nutt is gone for sure but Ole Miss is a meat grinder and now that I think about it. Arkansas had some awesome talent under Nutt something I am sure a coach like Petrino would have won a National Championship with.

In recent years, it does not seem like many NFL coaches will take college coaching jobs, unless they have been much more successful on the college level--e.g. Nick Saban & Lou Holtz. Jon Gruden is often suggested, but it looks like he doesn't want to return to college coaching.

Saban
Holtz
Petrino
Spurrier

Was there anymore? Arkansas snagged 50% of the list, 100% of those who quit the NFL during the season to come here. :CSB:

Harbaugh doesn't appear to be an option right now...

I enjoy entertaining a few crazy ideas but I was wondering what other Ole Miss fans would think if we went out and got the one and only sweater-vest...

Jim Tressel?!?

I mean he honestly seems like a good fit for us and hes definitely a solid coaching choice.
