Yeah, I don't think the distance from LA has much to do with it. Austin to LA is a nut-buster of a drive too, and not that much of a shorter flight.

It comes down to the legions of UT folks in Cali. Every other UT fan I met at the '06 Rose Bowl tailgates were from Cali. If this game was at the Orange or Sugar Bowl it'd be different.

I don't the distance matters all that much if you can't drive it

Must not matter. Seemed that Utah fans outnumbered the Bama fans in New Orleans last year for the quite memorable Sugarbowl disaster. Even a Bammer knows that Utah is further away from the Big Sleezy than Gumpland. Wow, I wonder if this is a pattern.....?

Not sure how you got that impression.

Alabama sold all all of its allotment and bought about half of Utah's.

They did outnumber us after the game though,

Just saw alot more Utah fans on the road and in the Quarter that weekend. I was shocked seeing the distance that had to be covered.

Alabama has played and won more Rose Bowls than any other team, not a Pac 10 team. 4-1-1 in Bowl games there. The only players from Tx that were there were freshmen or redshirt freshman and unlikely played.

Michigan 20-8
Ohio St. 14-7
Wisconsin 6-3

(Other Universities)

really?

I have yet to see any bama fans so far. Hopefully, some will stay through the weekend. and I'll try to take their pics.

I saw two in 2000? when they we're out here before.

Probably because not too many of them came by your Mom's basement...

Many in the crowd of 76,640 wore Alabama red, nullifying UCLA's homefield advantage to some degree. The Crimson Tide sold their allotment of 17,000 tickets, and it appeared they had many more fans than that on hand.
