I know when I ask myself “Where are the deep pockets of cash located?”, the first places I think of are Louisiana and Mississippi.

It's great to be a fan of a school that makes sound coaching decisions and has the team at a point where I am looking ahead to the playoffs versus what our next coaching savior is gonna do and coping with massive buyouts.

I doesn’t really matter what the first, second, third, or fourth places you think of. The point of the thread is that LSU has the money and always will when it comes to the LSU football program!

Yeah buddy that’s every schools goal. Again that’s not the point of this thread . The point of the thread is to debunk once and for all the notion that LSU is broke and has no money. That will never be the case regarding the LSU football program

You said A&M was broke and could barely afford Jeff Traylor when we fired Jimbo. So again, does LSU have confidence in Woodward to spend another 80 million on the next coach?

well congrats to your team for having the money to piss it away on a coach that was never that great to begin with.

You are trolling yourself, on Louisiana priorities, paying $53 million for a coach not to coach is hilarious while public schools are grossly under funded.....

Y'all should tar and feather Woodward.

This is certainly more in line for what Aggie can afford

That's you right? fricking clown. Of course you'd trust Woodward again. It's they're bitch boy.

In a way I can respect that LSU makes no bones about the fact they are far more concerned about spending whatever they have to on football coaches than on anything related to education. It's a source of pride to the state as much as gumbo and chickory in coffee. LSU has money but it's not an endless stream of rich donors and I seem to recall even the Governor complaining about raising ticket prices. There are always limits on funding, especially if you don't turn it around and win quickly.

I will say though you guys need to be careful getting too excited about thinking you can just throw money around and think it will end up with great results, Aggies know that all too well. Hell I still remember us firing RC Slocum in spite of 4 (really 5) Conference Titles and lots of 10 win seasons because having a down year wasn't acceptable and we just bought Bama's wunderkind coach like a boss. Then the Fran era put our program into darkness and we haven't won a Conference Title since. We all know how the Jimbo experiment turned out. The only times it worked really well was buying some coach from Kentucky in the '50s and then Jackie Sherrill in the '80s who got the first million dollar coaching contract from Pitt.

I will say though that I never liked the Kelly hire for you and got dragged relentlessly on this site at the time for saying he was a horrible cultural fit and the moment he isn't winning you will run him out of town. It was so obvious to me this day would come.

That’s the game. Either play it or sit on the sidelines. Don’t hate the players

I don't think you fire a coach in the middle of a reasonably normal but below expectation season unless you have the inside hand on a sure upgrade.

I keep Franklin and kelly but have a longer term plan to get my guy as the buyout becomes reasonable.....

Billy had a catastrophically bad season. Another excuse would be a scandal that is cause related to not pay the buyout.

Also, college football is in flux with nil and portal, we don't have optics on what a modern coach should be yet.

LSU boosters have deeper pockets than you will ever know . I thought that you would have learned after buying out Miles, Orgeron and all of their assistants, but all I’ve heard is how “LSU is broke. They can’t afford to buy out Kelly. They are stuck with him.”
LSU will never be “stuck” with any coach. They either produce or their gone !

Ok, but you spent all the money on Kelly, so it doesn't really matter.

Like bragging because you spent super car money on a Ford Escort.

Except according to Josh Pate this morning on Dusty and Danny, LSU wasn't planning on firing BK yesterday. They wanted him to fire some of his assistants and when he said no Scott told him that he could go too.
