I was at lunch yesterday with two UGA guys. I’m an LSU guy. We were talking about the games this weekend.

One of them said if Alabama loses this weekend DeBoer will be fired. That sounds like absolute nonsense to me. The thought wouldn’t cross my mind.

I don’t know how the Bama administration operates - they’ve had one coach my entire adult life. Is there a world in which DeBoer is not coaching Bama next season?

Plenty of folks will want him fired but they aren’t the ones writing the checks.

Dead Girl or live boy is only way he isn’t our coach going into next season.

Sadly the Bama admin is going to drag out the Deboer fiasco until he runs the program into the ground. They gave Deboer an extension last year and cornered themselves financially. It will get uglier before it gets better. Its a Les Miles and Mark Richt situation in combination.

I'll never understand this. This was as bad as aTm locking down Jimbo or giving BK 10m a year. Probably worse.

Apparently the people in charge were determined to make the Deboer situation work and doubled down. The Bama admin is notoriously slow to make change when needed and seem hard headed. Thats why they allowed auburn to take control of all major media in the state and they just sat back and let it happen.

This game is Kalen's 3rd year midterm exam (late) for where he has the program. Unless someone has near 70 million to spend (by the month) he will not be fired but a large percentage of the fans will be done with him. His staff is as ordinary as any in the conference.

injuries are a problem, but they are for all the other SEC teams.

He’s not getting fired, but the seat becomes very hot for next season.

Didn’t realize it was just in April at $87.5MM. 90% due for no-cause.

You would think he has to have at least two or three more years and even then it would be LSU / FSU buy out territory. After 3 years it would be a $45MM price tag.

There is not a world where he is not coaching next season unless he pulls a Mike Price and starts hiring escorts with the company credit card.

His buyout is too big and he's guaranteed to be here through the 2028 season. So, not, if Bama loses tomorrow DeBoer isn't going anywhere.

The Deboer extension was beyond stupid and someone should be held accountable.

If they don't make the playoffs, he'll be fired.

Given the fact that LSU is going to turn his sphincter inside out tomorrow, ...yes he's getting fired on November 29th.

Ryan Williams and the center probably aren't playing. With the current sad state of offensive line play college football, when your center goes down, your O line is basically cooked.

I would've picked Bama if those two are playing. Deboer is a big game coach. His record in big road games is really strong. Plus LSU has been feeling good and their players have been getting extra pats on the back after the beating the '85 Bears two weeks ago on The Plains. Rarely has a win against such a shitty team brought so much hope and promise. Meanwhile, Bama's players have had two weeks off feeling pissed off and doubted.

After all these years of reading Bama fans making injury excuses, I always wondered what it felt like and now I know. But I really do think that Bama has too many key injuries.

Spot on. Even though they are on the "questionable" list, I don't think our Center plays and if Ryan Williams plays he'll be a non factor because he's nowhere near full strength.

Our Center has been "the dude" for our offensive line all season. The moment he went down, the entire performance of the line has gone to hell in a hand basket. The quality of depth of rosters in college football is bad. It's not just Alabama going through it. Other teams lose a starting offensive lineman and there's a significant dropoff in his backup.

The transfer portal did what a lot of people have been wanting for a long time, and that's spread the talent around. The problem is, there's no depth on hardly any college team so ultimately the overall quality of the game has suffered. Sure, more teams can beat more teams, but the quality of football we're watching has significantly dropped.

I mean this sounds pretty conclusive, so I'd probably just run with it.

no

I’m not a Bama fan/alum; but they are not firing their coach over a loss to LSU this year - it’s not even on the table

I was probably the 1st - it’s a little crass, but a good little idiom

You’re welcome
