Nope. In the 2017 season (2018 playoff) Bama lost to Auburn & Ohio State lost to Purdue. That Purdue loss kept them out and put Bama in at no.4

Ok, just Google it. You're confusing about 3 seasons I think

Here's my daily reminder for people that have no concept of committee decision making: LINK

OP is correct taht it's never happened. HOWEVER, with that said, we've also never seen a situation like would happen this year if that occurred. The only real precedent we have right now is 2015 when Iowa was undefeated playing a 1 loss MSU in the big 10 title game, MSU won, then went ot the playoffs leaving Iowa at 5th. Big difference there is that Iowa was only ranked 4th heading into the playoffs and didn't hold near the clout that LSU currently does this year. It would be an interesting decision that would entirely come down to the other conferences. If UGA wins the sec at 1 loss, and clemson, OSU, and Baylor are all undefeated I don't see any way at all LSU would be in.

that includes LSU. We have yet to see the committee take a one loss non conference champion over a one or zero loss Power 5 conference champ.
Agreed

Lsu would have a chance, since they would still be 12-1(which is the same record as a 1 loss p5 champ)

I still have my doubts its possible though

What? Yes the committee has. In 2018 they awarded 11-1 Alabama (non-SEC Champion) the 4 seed over a 12-1 Big Ten Champion Ohio State.
How do so many people get this shite wrong?

2018 Bama was undefeated

2017- 11-1 bama got in over 11-2 Big ten champ Ohio state

Well the non conference champion part does not include LSU because we are winning the conference.

You and the three people who liked your post (assuming you are not one) need to check your facts.

Unexpected losses are the norm, not the oddity. We just don't know who or when. There are still lots of possible paths for Bama or GA to make it with 1-loss.

And while I don't think it will matter, ESPN sure loves them some Burrow and Orgeron this year. I wish those Connecticut nitwits didn't have the influence they have. I also wish I had a spaceship. And a nice rack of ribs.

No. There is only one path for Georgia. It happens or it doesn't. It's very simple.

Georgia needs no help.

Bama does.

I think the committee has an un-written line of thinking in selecting teams.

Undefeated P-5 team
1 loss P5 Conf Champ
1 loss P5 team
2 loss P5 Champion
Undefeated G5 champion

And it’s held true so far.
The only P5 conf champs with 1 loss or less to be miss the playoffs were.

2014- TCU/ Baylor co-champs; and that was the B12s fault
2018- OSU B10 champ; but ND was undefeated and the committee liked OUs loss better than OSUs.

All other years the P5 conf champs left out had 2 losses or more

2015- Stanford 11-2
2016- Penn State 11-2, OU 10-2 (OSU got in as a non champ 11-1)
2017- OSU 11-2, USC 11-2 (Bama got in as a non champ 11-1)
2018- Washington 10-3

Guess we'll just handle UGA by 3 TD's and not worry about it then
