If I'm not mistaken, Baton Rouge is the largest SEC city.
Not exactly a "college town".

Nashville's way bigger. And not nearly as dangerous.

601, did you go to shark tank this past weekend?
I was in NOLA during it, but was at the Cat's Meow in the afternoon and went to the Beach, Bourbon St Blues, ect later on. I had a blast down there even had a pic made with Col. Reb for shits and giggles.

They have so many shootings in Baton Rouge that they've worn off the sides of the ruler.

I heard a lot people say it was terrible. They felt they wasted $50 going to it. Said there was no food and not enough drinks to go around. I didn't go. I was at Pat O's pretty much all day.

Hey, he got his car shot in BR, if he was in Nashville he'd have gotten his car raped according to these stats

Dude, your debating skills suck or else you didn't bother to read the stats you posted. Way to make his point for him.
Yes, you are twice as likely to get killed in Red Stick as you are in Nashville. But as others have pointed out, anybody with half a brain knows that as long you're not mixed up in drugs or hanging out in the wrong neighborhood, you have nothing to worry about.
I'm a native of the Woodlawn area of SE Baton Rouge and this map
https://www.2theadvocate.com/graphics/homicides2008
shows that South Baton Rouge is pretty damn safe with the exception of 2 well known trouble spots: Gardere/GSRI and the area between LSU and downtown. Otherwise, violent crime is rare south of I-10. New Orleans is the same way -- avoid the trouble spots and you'll be fine. Same goes for most any decent sized city in the South or even large cities out here on the West Coast.

A guy I work with got his truck shot up in the same area last weekend. He went for a walk on the levee with his wife and when he came back he had two bullet holes in his truck. The bullets he found were 9MM though.

First of all, not all of the stats are worse for BR, look at aggravated assault as well as rape.
Second of all, just because it's per capita, doesn't mean there weren't 80 murders in Nashville compared to 57 in BR. 80 murders is nothing to brush off with a "per capita" label. I think to say that Nashville is "not nearly as dangerous" as Baton Rouge is misleading.
But you're right, in most cities these types of crimes are limited to certain, low-income areas.
