This isn't a knock on LSU and/or Tennessee at all (this is going to be a great game, I think). However, ECONOMICS rule everything these days, especially if your team is good. Very good.

#1. There is NO WAY UNDER THE SUN that CBS is going pass up Texas A&M@Alabama for prime time. Fuuuuuuuurgetaboutit! With all the drama between these two.....

#2. Auburn@Georgia is a bigger draw than either LSU or Tennessee. This game ALWAYS ranks among the season's top 10 most watched games. Georgia alone outdraws LSU in viewership and viewership = money. TRADITION also rules here. Plus, UGA's ranked #1.

I can understand the LSU AD getting very upset, but if LSU had a better team with a high ranking, then it may have had a better chance at the 3:30pm/2:30pm time slot. In any case, it wouldn't trump A&M/Bama in prime time.

We know why.

Doesn't mean we have to like it.

Bama vs. A@M should be the prime time game. There's no way to resist that with the upset last year and the off season drama.

CBS should have taken LSU vs. UT. Win or lose, it will be a more competitive game than UGA vs. Auburn. But, the traditional rivalry won out. So we make our Bloody Marys and we roll.

Your absolutely wrong. CBS gets to pick first and third. ESPN gets the second pick. They chose Bama/A&M first. ESPN chose lsu/ut second. CBS was left with UGA/Aub for their other choice.

CBS wants the #1 team on any time possible. That's why UGA is going to be on at 2:30. It's really that simple.

ESPN couldn’t put a game in the same night time slot when CBS does their prime time game. They could’ve, however, put the game on SEC network at the 6-6:30 time slot and gotten away with it, but thought viewership would be higher on ESPN at the 11 AM slot. Money rules. Sucks bc I wanted this game at night or at least 2:30, but it’s the price you pay to get big TV deals. Sometimes game times are less than optimal.

No, I'm not.

CBS exercised its right to air one of its few double-headers for October 8th. In this case, CBS chooses BOTH of its games first, then ESPN chooses its next choice of SEC games. CBS chose A&M/Bama and AU/UGA for its double-header. That left ESPN to choose UT/LSU.

Television contracts prevent ESPN from airing a night game on its primary channel at the same time as the CBS game. ESPN had no choice but to air UT/LSU at the 12 noon/11am slot due to CBS' selections.

Because CBS (chose first 2 games because they exercised the provisions of airing a double-header) and ESPN (chooses next SEC game after CBS) chose first.

A&M/Bama, AU/UGA were already taken leaving ESPN choosing UT/LSU. SECN then may choose from what games are left.

There's also this:

Neither Tennessee, nor LSU have played any 12:00 (Eastern) games this season. Georgia has played two, Auburn has played one. Here are the noon kickoffs so far for SEC schools:

Tennessee - 0
LSU - 0
Ole Miss - 0 (1st scheduled for Oct 1st)
Florida - 0 (1st 2 scheduled for Oct 1st, now moved to Sunday the 2nd, and Oct 8th)
Auburn - 1
Bama - 1
MSU - 1 (2nd scheduled for Oct 8th)
Kentucky - 1 (2nd scheduled for Oct 1st)
aTm - 1
Vandy - 1
Georgia - 2
Missouri - 2 (3rd scheduled on Oct 8th)
USCe - 2 (3rd scheduled for Oct 1st but moved to last night)
