I personally had Alabama around 8 and UF ahead of them
quote:Agree. Doesn't justify Bama at 4 though. Pretty sure we agree on that, except..........
But not losing doesn't mean you're better than a 1 loss team. So being ranked ahead of them might not be a big deal. This is about finding the best teams.

I understand why they're there.

It's way too subjective and manipulated week to week to stimulate TV ratings. It won't last long, imo.
A computer based system (like the BCS) and a 4 (or 6) game playoff is much better (and all most people ever wanted).

Well, I think they absolutely refuse to put TCU and Baylor up top because of their schedule. So they're out, as are Memphis and any of the other undefeateds with ridiculous schedules. They probably think Alabama would spank Iowa. Who does that leave? ND and UF? I mean, 1 of the 3 has to be ranked highest.

And make no mistake...I cannot stand UF. But damn, it is what it is.

Alabama is 5 spots ahead of Florida, despite a similar SOS and Florida having a better loss and a better record against common opponents.
That's the most bizarre part. Florida has one loss to the #2 team on the road, in possibly the toughest environment in CFB. Alabama has a loss to a 2-loss Ole Miss at home, and it wasn't as close as the score, regardless of what Bama fans may say.

The biggest problem I have with it is UF behind Alabama. I just think that's wrong.

I find it most interesting what they're doing to Baylor
this is a team whose administration proudly schedules nobody out of conference and says they will continue to do so.. and as a result the committee is pretty much writing off their playoff chances. I'm not sure their qb being hurt made a whole lot of difference with where they're ranked.

why would uf be above bama with a worse strength of record and worse strength of schedule? not to mention that they lost the qb who won their best win for them.

quote:lol so that means SOS really isn't a bigger factor than it was in the BCS.
One of the criteria is conference championships, and that obviously can't be factored in until the very end.

TCU should be ahead of Baylor. It's really silly.

As this is something I don't have to worry about I have a clear opinion.
Bama is better than Florida

Okay, maybe the score was about right. But the onside kick, albeit executed to perfection, can be considered a bit of a fluke. We can have that cancel out the kickoff fumble. Ole Miss had success moving the ball for much of the night and made them pay for their mistakes. The picks were not flukes.

I haven't looked at the difference between the two. What are the main reasons you say that?
With the Pac12 killing each other, I've pretty much convinced myself that an undefeated TCU/Baylor will get in...so I haven't paid any attention to them.

You shouldn't punish a team for what it MIGHT suffer because of the loss of a player. It's the same as these morons in the preseason saying such and such team..."their schedule is just too hard, so we have them at #15" or whatever. Well what if they beat that hard schedule? They've been penalized for something that hasn't happened yet. Might as well say LSU shouldn't be #2 because they have a tough November ahead.

the thing is you keep saying Florida has a better resume but all objective evidence says the opposite.
