FYI we won't have to beat all of those teams to go to the SEC Championship.

That is true. I know y'all get a lot of sh*t for talking about it but your schedules really do blow haha
I just hope that the SEC doesen't tear itself apart and then we have to watch an Ohio St / Louisville championship game

I like Herbstreit, but what a stupid notion that Bama may be overlooking, or sleeping on LSU. It's their only home game this year worth a crap, and it's always a dog fight.

Agreed, anyone sleeping on us is an idiot. No way in hell Bama is "sleeping" on us. But what he said does have some merit, some media outlets have written us off in competing for the SEC.

We. Shall. See.

I think he's more talking about the media, not the teams. There's not a coach out there that would ever 'sleep' on LSU. Not this century.

But you look at our preseason ranking and you just have to laugh at who they have ahead of us. I haven't been this psyched for a season in awhile. Cameron is the piece of the puzzle we've been lacking. If he gets it going, may God have mercy on your souls. For we will not.

I'm gonna have to see more than just Chavis at DC before I start thinking this is the same type of LSU defense we've come to expect. I think they will be good, but I'm not sure if they will be great. There are a few pieces in place, but mostly I see a ton of question marks all throughout the defensive depth chart. Last year's team was loaded with talent and they underperformed. Maybe this group will be more motivated, but Im not sure if the young guys have developed the type of habits needed to be outstanding. The last group certainly didn't leave them with a great example.

I've got an awful feeling that this is the year that we lose to MSU. I think we go into Athens and beat UGA in a hard fought game only to lose MSU in Starkville the following week

I still think the winner of the Alabama / LSU game is going to Atlanta and also go to the National Championship.

IMO - This a pretty damn ridiculous oversimplification and an insult to the other good teams in the SEC.

LSU's defense was just out on the field way too much and too long last year. Too many times, the offense couldn't put together drives to give the defense a rest.

I think LSU will be be better than expected. But, I don't see many teams - particularly Alabama - overlooking them. Why? Because we play them late. If they arrive at the Alabama game having already played Georgia, Florida and A&M with one or no losses, there is no way they will be under the radar. The difficulty in their schedule early on is going to make it hard for them to play the "no respect" card for very long, because if they have success early people will be drooling all over them.

saban did not lay the foundation. dinardo did and saban inherited top flight talent from him. dinardo hired crap for a DC and it cost him his job. but to make a long story short, saban did a lot with the players he inherited including a NC in his 3rd yr.

I think the biggest loss that they faced on the defensive side of the ball was Kevin Minter.

The LB corp will be good but to Minter. He's everything that is best about CFB and I'm really proud he wore the P&G.

Woot! Woot! but...I think LSU and UF if their O's crank up a bit, plus UA, A&M, UGA and SCar. In the the conference last year they all had pretty much 1 score games with each other save SCar/UGA I think. It'll be whoever has a little more good fortune than the others I think. Can't wait to see.

You're the rare GUMP that admits this. It's funny hearing Bama fans say the control freak Saban is almost hands off on the defense.

Agree with a lot of this. But the NC was in his 4th year.

While Saban did a lot for LSU , when he got here there was talent. He won the SEC in his second year.

I see no reason why that should change. The only difference is that LSU lacks the depth and experience on defense this season. 9-3 will be a good season for LSU.
