Chizik didn't lie when he said it was pure garbage.
He did in saying they never tried to contact him. It's clear he can't be trusted to be honest with his statements. Anything from here on out and surrounding any accusations will have to be looked at with great skepticism.

Nah, I'm assuming that Chizik is telling the truth here. I'm also assuming that there is someone at the AU SID's office is getting fired for not telling anyone about a phone call from HBO.

You still don't know who is lying. Just because HBO called does not mean they tried to contact Chizik. As deceptive as they were when contacting people, I would bet they called but didn't even ask for Chizik. With what is available, it is much more likely they did not try to contact Chizik but just contacted auburn and left it at that.

Oh. Well then. They only called and gave detailed information about the interview. How silly to think the head coach, who was an assistant coach at the time it all allegedly happened, would be informed.

When they interviewed McClover's high school coach. They tried to force him into admitting that an AU coach came to his office and forced him to make sure certain recruits came to AU or he would lose his job.....which never happened. They also tricked him into doing an interview by inferring that it was about McClover's life from a poor beginning and all that stuff, and then a few questions in just started hammering him about money from Auburn. That is shady interviewing.

yeah... link please?
Here is the requested link
By the way while you are readig that ask yourself why that wasn't added to the HBO story? McClover was in the same room with this coach and the coach basically called him a liar. Nothing mentioned at all.

That would actually go farther than anything else in stopping payments. Make an athlete take a year out o their pro career to do a stint in federal pound me in the arse prison for tax evasion.

I agree with you. We all know those who offer the payments and if the school is involved are wrong. However, these kids also know what is right and wrong and have the ability to say no.
I do understand the argument that most are poor and the money is too difficult to pass, but it doesn't make it right. They need to be held accountable as well.
