What you said about scholarship advantages is so true, yet nobody cares to even bring this up.
I grew up within the middle TN baseball circuit and played with and against guys that were recruited heavily by them or ultimately signed with Vandy baseball. Everyone connected to the sport knows about their recruiting advantage with baseball scholarships. It’s not like they hide it to their recruits. Corbin has been using this tactic for 15 years now since the school gave him the green light with financial aid.
As a private school they funnel their endowment funds towards “financial aid” for their baseball players to where basically everyone on their roster has a full ride in some way.
All the other SEC schools get 11.7 scholarships, whereas Vandy in reality gets more like 25 full rides for baseball each year.
And look, I don’t blame them necessarily. They found a loop hole that gives them a competitive edge. Throw in the prestige of attending a school like Vanderbilt, and viola you have a pipeline of any elite player from the northeast and elite instate/southern talent whose parents make less than 150k a year. For many families it becomes a no brainer to ultimately send their son to Vanderbilt for a free baseball experience. Something most SEC baseball signees never experience, because 11.7 can only be stretched so far on roster.
Baseball is uniquely the only sport they can do this with too. To deny the reality of their competitive advantage they hold over their fellow SEC schools with baseball scholarships is simply ignorance.

...financial "aid" always stretches beyond tuition. A much longer time ago, I had Grants that far exceeded tuition covering necessities like beer..pizza...more beer...

Just be glad the Dores don't have volleyball or softball.

Bowling...good spot for the pears.

Man...you all really don't know shite but like to complain. Learn a little. Basically, Vandy is just able to offset the difference in cost of attendance at a private school versus the state schools. But I'm sure you'll all just go "NUH UH!" and keep believing this BS.

I mean real sports of course. Not the BS title 9 sports that screw over and render sports like baseball with just 11.7 meager scholarships to pass around.

Thanks for providing a link straight from the source that proves my point. Y’all have more “aid” to give out than 11.7, as clearly stated in your link through the fancy “opportunity fund”.
Y’all get about 25 guys a year not paying a dime to play baseball at Vandy. I can tell you really aren’t that connected with how baseball recruiting works for them.

Yup, especially for the Vandy Boys compared to their SEC counterparts

Yes, if a high number of the best baseball players were from low-income families, Vanderbilt would have a massive recruiting advantage since they would all get big money from the Opportunity Vanderbilt financial aid available to all students. Since you're so tapped into baseball recruiting, how many of those kids on travel ball teams have parents who are not making good money?
The answer is "not many, if any." So now the financial need calculator applied to all incoming freshman still says those players' parents are still going to owe the school at least $15K or $20K (around 1/4 of the $73K cost of attendance figure). Vandy cannot give that kid ANY athletic money or ALL of the other financial aid counts as athletic aid. Meanwhile, state schools are starting at about $30K and have the lottery scholarships along with the other easily attainable academic scholarships which easily get the money owed figure at least equal. State schools are also allowed to calculate their available 11.7 scholarships at the out of state rate, meaning any in-state kid for a state school can be given a nearly full ride while only counting as half of a scholarship given. UT-Knoxville estimates in-state cost of attendance at ~$32K while out-of-state cost of attendance is ~$50K, so a full ride for an in-state kid counts as 0.64 of a scholarship. A half-ride for that kid is obviously 0.32 of a scholarship.
Essentially, if you really read the article and understood it along with the typical baseball recruit's situation, you would see that Vanderbilt's financial aid offerings essentially just put it on a level financial field with state schools. The advantage Vandy ACTUALLY has is that they can offer an elite education and, now, elite baseball at the same cost as a state school.

Nawww, not yet anyway. They can enjoy their moment. It is fleeting. Cowbells, quit your whining and beat their arse.

I’m afraid the truth hurts them too much, DoreonthePlains. Much easier to complain and remain willfully ignorant. Freaking Dansby Swanson still had to take out student loans.

I'm actually pretty impressed. I haven't just had this weird rush to downvote my posts and say "nuh uh!" This is much better than what I expected.
