The top 2 teams in the SEC are supplemented by the portsl. But built off of HS recruiting

Not irrelevant.
But much much less relevant

Just have to balance it out between both

It’s not irrelevant, but I basically only check in to see who we signed. Still important to building out a roster, but as far as fanfare, I couldn’t care less.
10 years ago LSU not signing Easton Royal would have ruined the rant for months. Now it’s barely a blip on the radar.

Well this board is practically dead, so maybe.

Nope. You can build a great team either way. Comes down to coaching and depth like the NFL.

I don't even check recruiting anymore and that's all we cared about prior to NIL and the portal. Your roster can almost completely turn over from year to year. Its even worse in college basketball. I used to get so stoked to land a top recruit and now if we land one - barely bat an eye at it. Not irrelevant - but the its like a mild ingredient to a big puzzle - You now have retention and the portal to fill gaps. Its basically Free agency on crack with very little rules.
Its trash
