LSU fans, I know it was against one of the top ranked D's in the country and you may not have yielded any results, but did you see a difference in play calling from the pre-Miles era? Do you still think there has been a 180 from the Miles handicapped offenses?

Do you see Miles calling a different game as far as play selection or personnel usage in the Bama game?

Saturday was a flashback for sure but we still tried to throw the ball a bit more. My only issue is that every offensive coach failed to see that we couldn't play-action against that defense yet we continued to do it the entire game. To beat that front 7 you need a quick shot-gun passing game and we have whatever the polar opposite of that is.

Didnt see much difference in Bama game, saw a big difference in the previous 3 games to that. Our OL got dominated though which you just cant let happen. Not sure it's any different with Miles against Bama but definitely do not think we are setting record after record the previous 3 games under Miles.

Next 3 games will show us a lot. Coach O is working with what's been given which is a OC who hasn't had to call plays in 2 decades, so they have to piece together what they can. Bottom line though the plan and execution was poor against Bama, so want to see them get the ship re-righted this weekend against a poor Arkansas defense.

While, the answers to your questions are no, the offense didn't change much if at all for the Bama game.

But, that was their best game plan to beat Bama. They needed to shorten the game , keep it close, get to the 4th with a chance to win. Had to hope that Hurts had a poor game (which he did for the most part, at least in the passing game-but Bama didn't really try to be aggressive passing) for Hurts to turn the all over a few times and give them short fields. Bama's defense was just too good Sat night. They were dialed in and played a really great game.

I told them earlier in the week thats what they'd do and needed to do if they did not want to get blown out. If they would've tried to go 4-5 wide and play fastball then Bama would blow them out due to turnovers and defensive scores by Bama.

They just don't have the QB to beat Bama with any offense style .

This is really all that needs to posted in every LSU/Bama thread. Would make for much shorter threads.

We called a pussy arse game offensively, but so did Alabama. Both offenses were terrified of making a mistake.

Still, this is a makeshift staff. Orgeron promoted a TE coach that hasn't called plays in a decade, and they're using a playbook that Les Miles and Cam Cameron put their stamps of approval on. In short, it's not exactly an ideal situation for the offensive staff.

I think the play action though may make the corners and safeties hold up just a second. You certainly couldn't line up with empty and try to throw. Etling got abused but Bama has done that to every QB. It's not like LSU Ol is a special kind of bad. They've played just fine against every other defensive front.

Yat, I thought y'all played a great game defensively. I know this sounds odd but I don't think yall tried to establish the run well enough early n the game. Really needed to do quick pitches to get LF on the edges and needed to be more patient with running. It was,is the best way I thought for LSU to win. Shorten the game, keep it close and needed to CAPITALIZE on the mistakes by Hurts.

Play action is great in theory, but it's damn near idiotic against Alabama. I was pretty disappointed that LSU almost exclusively called pass plays from under center, most of which were play action. That's just idiotic when going up against a front like Alabama. We literally did nothing from the shotgun.

Our OL was whipped up and down the field against Wisconsin, a team with far inferior players on both sides of the ball.

No, it never will. The days of YA Tittle are gone.

Except Wisconsin. The badgers whipped them pretty badly.

I really thought Orgeron and Ensminger would get a little creative adopting a nothing to lose mindset. I was wrong. They coached scared to death. I watched the Oakland/Denver game last night and Oakland did something that I thought LSU would try to do. The lined up a 6th OL as a TE. We had the perfect opportunity this week. Get another big body out there to help out and try to get the RBs around the edge. Instead we let guys like Malone get in one on ones with Williams and Anderson.

I don't recall any toss dives, so we've at least moved out of the 70's.

I have seen some changes since miles. If your looking for someone to do a complete overhaul of a offence in the middle of a season, it will never happen. So does it surprise me no, you just work with what you have at the time and roll with it. But the changes have been positive, so I'm happy.

Looked like the same boring and predictable 1980's offense to me.
