Has DeBoer's hiring all of his coaching buddies ever worked for other college coaches?

I see DeBoer just hired Womack's buddy from South Alabama, where he coached previously. South Alabama's defense ranked 10th out of 14 teams in the Sun Belt! Maybe that explains why Alabama just lost by 35 point to Indiana!

Hiring family and friends is never a good move, but DeBoer (after losing by 35) said in his post game interview that Alabama is so close to being where they want to be. I'm not making that up! He really said that!

It worked for Dabo for a long time. Not sure if it will work for DeBoer.

Womack has worked out great so far. One bad game isn't the measuring stick.

Say what you want, but he’s shown improvement every year and funny enough, people seem to forget that Saban had 2 losses in a row (one of which was ugly ugly) at the end of 2008, his 2nd year before his breakout season the very next year.

That Indiana loss was a fantastic exorcism for this program. Based on what Alabama is seeing in the portal, none of our OL or DL wanted to be at this university and they played like it. Time to get guys that finally fit the scheme and have a quarterback to match it. Alabama had buy in this year but it seemed to be a very shallow buy in. I believe Kalen was still coming into himself here and the core players he recruits still need 1 more year to acclimate to his style.

You are correct about Womack! I live in Alabama and all of my buddies are Bama fans and they can't stand him. What's saving Womack is DeBoer's hiring of his buddy as OC, who was just fired from Seattle, and he's proven to be a complete failure! In last three games, Alabama had -3 rushing yards against Georgia, 28 rushing yards against Oklahoma and only scored 3 points against Indiana and lost by 5 TDs.

Having a complete idiot as an OC is the only reason Womack is not going to be terminated this season, but his seat is still very, very warm!
