1/9/12 did LSUs football program??

Not even trying to troll but that program fell off a cliff after that game. Can any of you remember another team falling that far after 1 loss??

Once again...Honest question not a troll attempt

That was the shove but we were dangling off the cliff until TJ Yeldon stepped on our fingers in 2012.

Saban killed Fulmer and UT in the 2001 SEC Championship game, they were never contenders after that. Seems to be a habit with him.

No the 2012 game was more damaging. It still boggles my mind how Les Miles refused to adapt or even tweak the offense.

I really think every post would improve if they ended with 'also go frick yourself'.

Falling off a cliff? That's a huge exaggeration. LSU has remained (mostly) ranked since then.

If you want to talk about a team that disappeared, look at Miami as a top 10 team heading into the 2005 Peach Bowl. It took that more than a decade to come back into the national conversation.

At least they won the east in 04 and 07. Beginning in 2012 LSU hasn't really won much of anything.

After losing to Alabama, Texas tried to change their offensive philosophy to a power run game, failed miserably, and has been in a free fall ever since.

2012 in DV and the mass exodus of talent that year left the program in shambles.

I know we all like to laugh at LSU but they didn't stop being a national title contender until 2016.

2011 - 13-1, #2, SEC Champs, Lost in National Title Game to Alabama, greatest regular season maybe in CFB History

2012 - 10-3, #14, Went into Alabama game 7-1 (3-1) controlling their own destiny in the West. Lost to Alabama on the last drive of the game. If they hold on, they win the West and go to Atlanta to play Georgia for a chance to play Notre Dame in the national title.

2013 and 2014 were both mediocre seasons

2015 - 9-3, #14, 8-0 and ranked #2 in America going into the Alabama game, hammered by Alabama, lose 3 in a row including that game. This was the last time LSU was truly in the national title conversation (outside of the preseason in 2016).

The 2011 loss did not plummet their program. LSU went into 2 more Alabama games post 2011 (2012 and 2015) in control of their own destiny for the West, SEC and National Titles.
