I don't see how a player getting money from a coach whether he paid it back or not still would be considered extra benefits. The NCAA just makes them pay it back as part of their punishment. A coach still knew this happened and didn't report it and that is what gets other schools in trouble.
fricked us with Ramsey and his steaks.
Would have been sorta tough for him to have given the steaks back though so maybe that was the problem.

Again, no, that is not what the article says. The article says that there is a bank withdrawal showing the amount HaHa claims to have paid back. It doesn't say it was the full amount loaned and it doesn't say that he provided any type of real verification that the withdrawal went to the coach. All it says is that UA is believing him when he says the withdrawal amount was given to the coach.
It does not matter how you interpret it. The NCAA has to use what is made available to them. If they have a record from the bank that can support Ha-Ha's claim, and I am not saying validate just support, the NCAA will have to go with that unless they can actually provide some evidence to nullify what he provides.

LSU had a coach help pay for a kids apartment.. he never saw the field and the coach was fired. LSU self imposed some penalties and was placed on probation IIRC?

Dude let it go! Cam took money who gives a shite, he was a bad arse football player and him along with Nick Fairley won a National Championship for a shitty team. It's over nothing is going to change it. If Cam wouldn't have been awesome no one would still talk about this.

Hopefully, they can get some assistance in resolving this situation from the NCAA. Bama pays their dues and deserves the level of service given other member institutions.
After all, the NCAA is about "heppin people"

Looks like a whole bunch of people are getting excited over $500.

To be fair, the article states Dix provided bank records that showed a withdrawal that Dix claims he used to pay the coach back.

Didn't mean to get in an argument with you earlier. Really should've just asked you this question earlier instead of bickering with you. What, beyond the bank statements, can the NCAA ask or expect Clinton-Dix to provide them?

This. I'm a stingy frick. 50% of my paycheck goes to savings. I eat at the dining hall as much as I can and hoard coupons like a soccer mom

That's because you've never been to college and don't understand how student loans work. They aren't dispersed until the middle of August for the fall semester. However, you can get an advance as early as the third week in July of up to $5000. If HCD got an advance or waited until the middle of August, he would have enough money to pay back the trivial amount he owed.
Your "I can only assume...." is absolutely pathetic.

From that he could have just took $500 worth of withdraw slips where he was taking out money to go spend on random things like anyone else and said he gave it to the coach. They also don't know the date he supposedly took out the last of the $500 total he said he gave the coach.

while i agree 500 is a lot of money to a college student, how did you get by with 500 every 2 months? i spent more than 500 in 2 months on food alone

Hilarious that this comes out after Alabama plays what is perceived as a difficult early season schedule: VT, Texas A&M and Ole Miss, and now enter a shite schedule of Georgia State, Kentucky, Arkansas and Tennessee.
They hope the NCAA suspends Clinton-Dix over this joke of 4 games so he could be re-instated for the LSU game on November 9th.

Smoke screen. Saban trying to throw the NCAA a bone and distract them from the real payments.
I was thinking something similar. Since the NCAA is apparently stretched thin with available employees to handle investigations, maybe Saban is just gonna bog them down with a multitude of small infractions.
