I know Miss St hasnt given up many sacks. Are most of Fitzgerald's yards designed runs or escapes? I havent watched much of Miss St this year.

Not many... None.

Most runs are reads by the QB. So it's by design mainly.

None, wow...knew it was few if any...

Honestly, Do you think Key can change that stat if hes back? He should have Lawrence back with him.

ETA: and only 9 TFL given up

They have given up more tackles for a loss than LSU. He is a mobile QB. Better wheels than Etling.

According to ESPN, Both teams have given up 9 TFL and LSU has given up 2 sacks.

One of the sacks was Etling holding the ball with a wide open receiver running a slant...no excuse though.

Pretty sure Guice hasn't gotten a touch past mid way thru the 3rd qtr when defenses start to weaken

He was downgraded today and listed as doubtful.

Wont matter either way. Its not that he isnt good, and that he wont get some pressure and effect some things. Its that MSU has added TEs and RB that are effective.

It plays into his rushing.

Youre correct again. But Fitzgerald has 5/6 of the passing TDs and half the rushing TDs. Stop Fitz = Stop State

Our RB's are capable there too. It's just too easy with <10 yards to go to spread 4 or 5 wide.

You're going to either have a man open or a hole to run. OL is going to open away from any LB that stays home so they have to at best take an angle. Fitz being 6'5" means he is almost always going to fall for a few yards even if he's met at the line.

It's a situation where the RB is just better used doing something other than taking the rock.

So...are you thinking Williams will still be averaging 7.6 ypc after this weekend?

And while I realize Fitz has improved a lot since last year, you might want to have a gander at what Aranda's D did to him. Or (as they are a similar type of player) go watch Heisman winner Lamar Jackson's performance in the Citrus Bowl against LSU.

I am curious to see how we fare against your defense though. I am guessing 400+ yards and 28 to 31 points.

Yep! I just don't think it will be enough.

Without TEs that are capable of catching, LSU's job would be easier. But MSU has several TEs that are catching hard passes and scoring. The RB size now means harder to tackle.

It creates matchups that favor MSU.

Now... Let's put the x and o to paper. Assign just 1 person to the spread and account for a TE.

What's left?
